Eddie House: Caleb Martin's hard foul on Jayson Tatum wasn't 'malicious', 'suspension-worthy'

Eddie House and Tom Giles join Trenni Casey on Arbella Early Edition to take another look at Caleb Martin's hard foul on Jayson Tatum in the final minute of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference first round between the Celtics and Miami Heat. The crew discuss whether the play was an intentional attempt to hurt Tatum and what happens going forward in the series if Miami continues to 'junk things up' physically.

It's possible that caleb was trying to time a tip in with the rebound and the push prevented him from gathering. You can stop from sprint from above the arc with a jumpstop; look at the replay, it would have been an over the back had martin been able to really jump and not an undercut.. which is unfortunately what happened. Holiday shove took him out of his timing and you have less than 1 second to gather if you plan to go up high. martin failed to launch and hit tatum. Move on. Edit. Ok i think caleb was trying not to rub his crotch on tatums bum, that's why he turned. Reckless? Yes. But dont blame him for not wanting his crotch to touch tatum

Why is anybody surprised. I remember hearing the coach from Miami Heat saying that his players are very crafty. Well they did the same move to Gianni's last year and they took him out in the first game then they did the same stuff to his back then poking the Knicks center eye out then in the Eastern conference championship I saw a foot move underneath Tatum's foot and he basically popped his ankle. Isn't that interesting the most dirtiest players I've ever seen and I thought I've seen everything with a bad boys of Detroit. This is from some who played ball at The Cage and Rucker Park in NYC. I am a forensic accountant by training. I view a lot from the perspective of evidence. I don’t see evidence of intent in the Caleb Martin play, but I do see it in Bam’s moving screen on DWhite. We all know the Heat have a reputation for dirty play, and I was trying to be fair when Bam racked KP’s nuts earlier in the season. But know this: live by the sword, die by the sword.
