Eddie Hearn & Tony Bellew: Talk The Talk ep5 with KSI & Billy Joe Saunders

Спорт

The penultimate #TalkTheTalk sees Eddie Hearn and Tony Bellew chatting with KSI and Billy Joe Saunders. Hearn and Bellew discuss upcoming fight camp plans, their first encounter with Mike Tyson and The Bomber's #SASWhoDaresWins campaign. #KSI calls out Jake Paul and reviews his victory over brother Logan Paul, goes over his new album Dissimulation whilst Billy Joe Saunders talks Canelo, Callum Smith, life in lockdown and a few old tales with Bellew.

Regarding boxing he obviously isn’t world class when it comes to talent, but he quite literally is in regards to his forte (KZread) and content creation and managing to consistently produce and mature his content over many years whilst retaining a large following, and also the business side of it which him and his 1 manager pretty much, have played it brilliantly over the last couple of years with taking opportunities and business decisions etc.

  • @lew_w3599

@Jason he got lucky in the same way some boxers get lucky to have big fight opportunities etc or even to be able to make a name at all these days, boxing has gone even more mainstream in the last 5 years or so and that also means so many people want to be boxers, but only the very very small percentage who are unique/the elite in regards to ability make it. This is effectively the same as ‘making it on KZread’ .

Rory Watkins Boxer and fighter are different things. MMA athletes, boxers and kickboxers are high level athletes but that's not what means being a fighter...Fighter can be triatlonist or a fucking singer. It is will to keep going and not give up. It means balls and willingness to put everything on the line. "Sisu". At the start Tony feels like KSI has gotten everything on a golden plate. During the podcast he is starting to realise that Ksi works his ass off, and at the end his point of view is completely different.

To any purist boxing fans please hear me out. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the sport. From geniuses like lomachenko to greats like mike tyson and even current champions like fury. I’m so interested in the sport and love learning about it more and more. But for both myself and a lot of other people, we wouldn’t have gotten into it if it wasn’t for KSI. Please at least show him that respect. Of course his technique isn’t great in the slightest, but he’s worked hard and has brought so many young people into this world. He at least deserves some credit for that. Also I’m not saying I’m an expert on the sport yet. I just thoroughly love watching fights, and observing the styles of different fighters.

well said mate - I'd never heard of KSI before he wanted to fight, and although its wasn't anything like a professional fight, it was still good boxing drama (which is half the fun of boxing anyway!). Too many stiffs out there don't want to see boxing progress and appeal to new audiences, and at the core of it boxing is entertainment, not an exclusive show for "pure boxing fans"

Canelo vs BJS wouldn’t be promoted by Eddie Hearn because he promotes fights for matchroom boxing and frank warren is promoting this fight for frank warren promotions. JMX and Logan would have a MMA fight not a boxing fight.

I’ve seen so many cringey and pathetic comments on this video. Everyone needs to get a grip. People so salty that KSI is bringing attention to the sport and angry that his young fans are under the impression that he is any good at boxing. It’s almost as if boxing fans don’t want anyone else coming to the sport. You should be happy that more potential fans are coming and you should be welcoming them in and politely educating them about real fighters and helping them understand what boxing is really about, rather than acting superior and snobbish about the fact that a youtuber is stepping into the ring where he “doesn’t belong”. He may not be any good but at least he is taking the sport seriously and training hard. Boxing fans are making themselves look like stuck up little schoolgirls who don’t want to let anyone else into their little club. And the KSI fans acting like he is an untouchable god who can do no wrong. He is a hard worker and seems like a good guy but come on people, he is just a regular guy at the end of the day. You don’t have to tie your entire identity to someone, defending their every move and following them at every turn. You’ll inevitably end up disappointed one day. He does seem like he cares about his fans to be fair to him, but he doesn’t know who you are personally and he won’t be thanking you for standing up for him with the hundreds of replies you send to anyone who insults him. It’s all just pathetic. Especially the adult boxing fans. You aren’t children so there is no excuse for acting like whiny little brats. I know everyone is just going to come at me for this message, but I don’t care. I just wish everyone would act a little more civil and less toxic to each other. I know there are also good comments and I’m being pretty harsh as well but I just feel nauseated reading all these sad and pitiful comments. There is so much awful stuff happening in the world right now and I can’t even escape from the toxicity in a podcast about boxing.

It spins both ways. An annoyance for boxing fans is ‘casuals’ (actual casuals, not the flippant use of it among the boxing community) talking as if they know the sport. I’ve had many conversations with people who began speaking about boxing after the KSI fight, and you wouldn’t think they are new fans to the sport with how stubborn they are in their uneducated opinions.
