It's very hard to reconcile this fight with Eddie's performances against Marvin Johnson and Jerry Martin, who would later defeat Scott knocking him down twice. Gregory destroyed Johnson with a vicious body attack and sent Martin into La La Land in their fight. Here, he was strangely indifferent. He was often very ordinary in fights he thought he would win easily. He was a fast, huge puncher with lots of snap in his punches. He wasted what should have been a dominant career.

Reports said his unwillingness to train properly drove his trainer crazy. One was he'd show up at the gym dressed in street clothes, drinking cans of regular (sugary) Coke, & refuse to workout.

Scott lost his zeal for competition when he found out he wasn't being released due to his Boxing success! Once that happened he wasn't the same!

Eddie could be brilliant & dominant, mediocre, or completely indiffrent. It's a shame he didn’t train properly and always give his best. I don't think he could've gone undefeated because this was a golden age in the LH division, but he certainly could've been much better than what he was. If half the things reported on Scott's behavior in prison are true, he didn't help his situation and deserved to stay in prison.

It should be a movie! Watch the documentary of James Scott. If "Rocky" was inspired by real life or imagination, then this man's life that is a real world story should be made into a movie as it has all the ingredients of an enigmatic life and massive lifetime lessons plus political controversy! Many might think they know something about boxing, and you see and hear about thus guy Scott who eventually lapsed into obscurity. Likewise respect and thanks is due for this channel for posting this video. It s social historical economic cultural and political moral implications go way beyond boxing sport.

Scott didn't help his cause by frequently breaking the rules in prison.

Great body attack by James Scott. Never saw Gregory look this bad . Not throwing many punches. At least against Spinks he put up a good fight. Bur not here

Scott's best fight. I never saw Eddie get beaten so badly; not even by Michael Spinks. Hypothetical of course, but Galindez was pretty washed up after getting the title back from Rossman. Had James Scott been allowed to fight Galindez instead of Marvin Johnson, he would have been favored to take the title.

Eddie fought a bad fight before losing the light heavyweight title to Mike Spinks. A 10 full fight loss to zRenaldo Snipesm Eddie came in at 201 pounds was out of shape. Snipes did little himself. But Eddie hardly threw any punches in losing that dreadfully bout in 1981
