This explains why he was famous and attractive back then. I only barely knew about "Oh, My Papa." I am a late boomer in cohort age group with Todd Fisher. So, he was washed up and rock and roll was what we heard. We would have heard the older singers that were in movies, which left him out. Some other old style singers were on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, or maybe earlier on the Mike Douglas Show or Merv Griffin or maybe Ed Sullivan. Did Eddie Fisher ever show up on those?

Eddie Fisher has a fine voice, he has power & vocal chords reaching higher than Mount Everest, but I was disappointed with his performance with the beautiful romantic ballad "You're Breaking My Heart"which was below par & wooden(perhaps he was thinking of Liz Taylor while singing) for his unique collosal vocal talent. His arm movements while singing seemed uncertain & very ameteurish &. he should study Mario Lanza''s arm & hand movements for that. Also, forget about the influence of Eddie Cantor. In respect of vocal talent you are in a higher league than Cantor.

Here he was 23. His voice was always great and incrementally got greater as he matured. I wish he had recorded this song when he was 40. The comparisons here to Vic Damone and Jerry Vale--to me there is no comparison b/c Eddie was not trained in any way. What you heard from all Eddie.
