I've been carrying the Nitecore TINI 2 on my keychain for around 18 months. Aside from some finish wear, it's still working great. It throws a great even light, and it holds a charge for quite a long time when not in use. Plus USB-C charging is great, since I'm never far from a USB-C charger.

As someone very new to EDC, this is really helpful, informative and balanced advice. Thank you. My first (& currently only) EDC torch (yes that’s what we call them in the UK) is the tiny but ample Lumintop EDC01. For the last four weeks it’s been in my pocket on a microclip, along with a Victorinox classic SD alox. The number of times these little items have been used in these first weeks, has both surprised and thrilled me (& stopped the criticisms of my family, who had doubted the need of them 😊). Love the content here. Thanks for the opportunity of landing an upgrade.

I got my first flashlight less than a month ago: the RovyVon A5, which is great because it's small and I can bring it everywhere, but it's actually too small to hold in my hand. I would love a slightly larger flashlight so I can hold it easier. I never knew how much I used a flashlight until I got one, it's definitely an EDC for me now.

The thumbnail and title of this video strongly implies that you're going to discuss the flashlights pictured. That's why I watched the video and I assume the same is true for most others since the most replayed part of the video is the part where you have the same lights pictured. But you don't discuss them, you just link them so you can make some money if we buy one from Amazon. This is anything but the "ultimate guide" and frankly, I am growing so weary of fake clickbait titles and thumbnails. You seem like a nice guy so I'm not going to tell KZread to stop recommending your channel, but I came really close to doing that. Please be honest and transparent with your videos. Trying to "trick" people into watching and using your affiliate links is no way to build a following.

Those videos are a dime a dozen. I also was expecting it to be basically an advertisement for specific flashlights, which is why I clicked, but was definitely pleasantly surprised at the actual content, thoughtfulness, and intention.

We can all do that. It's I'm not talking about removing a channel from KZread. I'm talking about telling you to never show me that channel again. I do that pretty much everyday, because there are so many garbage channels out there. Cheers.

Hey Maurice! Loving the videos. Came across them your channel when looking at EDC items and it has been a great guide! I currently have the SL-300 (shredlights) as my torch of choice. It's designed to attach to skateboards to light up the road while riding but I also carry them when I'm not using the skateboard. It's small enough to throw in a bag and it has multiple uses which I like. Can't wait to see this channel grow!

This is the first video I've seen of yours, and really appreciate the tip about using multiple batteries on a single circuit. I currently EDC a Rovyvon A28u, and love it for the bright light, long lasting battery, dim sidelight I use in the middle of the night, and the UV light is cool to have for checking money.

Hey Maurice thanks for the heads up on multi cell batteries in torches. Great content as always! I currently run an Olight i3t as my EDC light because of its size and ability to change batteries quickly. I use rechargeable AAA batteries to keep it running and have a spare cell in most of my bags. I have been looking at something more powerful lately though because I would like a more defensive focused light for certain situations. Keep up the great work!

I'm carrying a Nebo Swyvel. It checks most of the boxes for your requirements, and so far I've been very happy with it.

I’m using the Coast HP3R currently, it’s extremely compact, is rated at 385 Lumens and uses a proprietary usb-c rechargeable battery. Usb-c port is located on the flashlight body itself and the battery as well for charging spares for quick swapping. Coast also offers lifetime warranty with no hassle replacements.

My current EDC flashlight is the Nightcore Tip SE. Bought it after watching Nick Shabazz's review on it and it's honestly such a great light. If I had to upgrade, I'd probably go get the Nightcore TINI 2 in titanium.

I own several flashlights from Reylight and Olight but my go to EDC is the Olight i5r EOS in Ti. It's bright enough for my everyday needs, uses either a proprietary usb rechargeable battery or a AA batter and it is able to be clipped to the bill of my hat when needed.

Recently got into the EDC game and started small.... Very small, a RovyVon Aurora A8 which lives in my pocket now. Absolutely love it, but now thinking about going bigger!

I bought the Olight Arkfeld and between its output and squared off form factor, it is ideal for me as I have limited sensation and grip in my hand for a round torch due to nerve damage…great video as always!

Love your videos! I worked in construction of large ships for years and have carried/loved the O light baton II for its magnetic base!

I got the RovyVon E5. I love the extra LEDs on the side, I went with red ones and use the strobe setting as a bike blindly when riding at night.

Glad that you set it straight with flashlight saftey. Everything I’ve read about deaths or injuries have been from what you mentioned but so many people love to pin everything on the brand. I have been EDCing an Olight warrior mini 2 Cu latley. I picked it up a few months ago to replace a broken surfire stilletto since I loved the copper and didn’t want to pay to upgrade to a stilletto pro to escape the plastic body that broke on the original. I don’t find it any harder to carry and it’s user interface is just as good if not better. Also seems just as if not more durable so far and looks way cooler. Here’s to hoping I win a baton 3 for my girlfriend;)

I'm currently carrying a gas station keychain flashlight but I've been wanting to switch it for something more durable. That Fenex E12 V2 looks great, perfect size for me, decent output settings and a double sided clip, however I would prefer something with a rechargable battery. The Olight S1R2 baton with the Olink on my keys. The pocketclip makes it a great key dangler! I own several flashlights but this is the one I carry the most because I never leave my house without my keys.

I've been carrying the Lumintop Tool AA for the past few years but have recently switch over to the RovyVon Aurora A3 Pro and A8 as their size fits better in business attire in my new work environment.

As always, a very well structured and presented video. Thanks. I’m currently using a larger LED flashlight, which was an Amazon special some time ago (can’t remember the name). It’s good, but too big, for what I need and tech has moved on a lot since. Currently looking at the RovyVon A1 as part of the EDC, but the Baton 3 looks mega and would ensure I’ve always got some change, but probably not what I need right now.

My "normal" job is a overnight security at a large Medical Facility that closes at night. I currently use the NiteCore EDC27. My other job is search and rescue which I use numerous types of lights.

I love the "how not to die" section, its honestly something I've never even considered before, I don't currently have an edc light but ive been looking at the Stream light micro stream but I figure why not enter, win or lose it can't hurt anything. Currently using the Olight baton v1 for my edc and this new v3 looks pretty sweet! I have to say though, rechargeable lights aren’t really my thing but maybe my opinion will change if I get the v3! :)

My edc was the i5T olight and it got swiped so I'm on the hunt for a new one! i liked the range of lumen output but i like the idea of a magnet in the base-- i have worklights that snap to anywhere and it'd be great to have that for my edc!

Currently rocking the warrior mini 2 by olight. Love this thing. It's almost edc perfection for my use case.

My current EDC flashlight is an Armytek Partner A1 Pro, powered by a rechargeable 14500 and can be powered in an emergency by an AA. It also has impressive durability factors (impact and immersion) and a run time of 8 days on low. You only need to get used to the size 😉

Another well thought out and informative video. I currently EDC the Sofirn Sc21 but also keep the Olight i1r 2 Eos on my keys.

Love your videos, they are always so well-structured and informative. My current EDC flashlight is just my phone sadly. The Fenix E12 looks like a great option.

I use to carry a Coast HX5 until I lost it, I loved the s clip on it, which allowed me to clip it to my hat for a quick headlamp, and I was able to pocket it with the lens down, protecting the lenses from being scratched.

My current go to EDC light is the Lumintop FWAA in polished titanium. Small, bright, and looks great.

I have several no name Chinese flashlights, 2 of them are still helping me during the war. The other one (with lots of lumens) is waiting for some camping activities. So I agree - there is no need in lots of lumens everyday, but to have an opportunity to use those lumens when they are really needed - is a good thing

@@LCFCsrb you do not need to be a soldier to suffer from the war. You may be just a regular guy, who had to live in a cold basement because of rockets flying and exploding over you

I carry a RovyVon Aurora A5x (I think) and I do use one of the higher output modes (which has a few hundred lumens I believe) from time to time. I work in a theatre so there are times when I need to illuminate large, dark spaces and those extra lumens are super useful. However, a big downside of this flashlight being so small and being capable of so much output is that it won't keep up the high output modes for long, it'll switch to a lower output to prevent overheating. But that's a tradeoff I can live with for it being so small that I can take it anywhere. Another consideration is luminous flux (in lumens) and its relationship with luminous intensity (in candela), which is associated with how focused the beam is. Luminous flux describes the total amount of light coming from the flashlight in all directions, whereas luminous intensity describes how much light there is concentrated in a given angle in space. Thus, if the flashlight has a very large beam angle, the light gets spread out over this large angle, so a flashlight with the same amount of lumens but a smaller beam angle is going to have that light spread out over a smaller angle, making the light appear more concentrated and thus brighter. So if you have two flashlights with the same number of lumens, the one with lower candela is going to have that light more spread out whereas the one with higher candela is going to be more focused. If you want to illuminate an object with both, it's going to look dimmer when illuminated with the low candela flashlight because that flashlight lights up more of the surrounding area with the same amount of luminous flux (total light output), so there's less left for the object.

As of now I have the Nitecore Tip SE, it's a nice Keychain flashlight with turbo up to 700 lumens, but I've been eyeing the olight baton 3 pro as a full sized flashlight for my EDC needs.

I don’t have a EDC but the Nitecore TUP1000 looks like it will fit me nicely. Not too big or small and will help finding things in the car easier.

Earned yourself a sub! Been rocking the Thrunite Ti2 in my Maxpedition Micro SHTF setup for years now but must admit the light on my phone easily gets the most usage!

I have so many issues with a lot of what you said but for the sake of brevity and to save my fingers typing on my tablet I will only focus on what you say about 5 to 100 being basically all you need unless you're in rescue or such. There's plenty of instances that require a person to have brighter flashlights for everyday use. Quite a few people have vison problems or conditions that require them brighter flashlights for what some people would consider "bright enough". Even times in which a certain brightness in a floodligh is enough they could still have conditions in which a higher lumin/brightness is required to see more around them in the dark as their condition can affect their peripheral vision, so even though in front of them it's bright enough for them they could still require brighter still to see to a normal comfort around them. These situations are clearer to me as i have vision problems on my mother's side and i see this first hand.

Thanks for the battery tip. I'd never heard of anyone dying from batteries! I keep an Olight I3T EOS 180 with me and have another on my tool belt. I'm eyeballing the Baton3 to keep with my camping gear.

I'm currently using an olight baton 3 (the short one) and am considering adding a Warrior mini 2 to the collection as a bigger option 😊

So far my steamlight microstream has come in handy almost daily. Love the output for the size. But I do wish it lasted longer on a charge and/or charged faster.

I got my first EDC torch (flashlight) a couple of weeks ago. It's an Olight i3E EOS, and I'm really surprised how much I use it, and how much light I get from the tiny form factor. It's a 90lm, single output torch and I find it ample for what I want.

I don't currently have a edc flashlight yet and was in the process of getting one. Been watching a few videos on flashlights and glad you uploaded this as I was still searching. I have been eyeing the Olight Warrior Mini 2 as my edc flashlight but not sure if it's THE one.

Since I haven’t quite committed to a single EDC bag I tend to keep multiple compact alkaline flashlights peppered in various places at work ,home, auto and workshop.

Surefire EDC1-T is my everyday carry. Need to try olight. You might have a point with one cell, you got me thinking. Thanks for the video.

I'm just getting into this edc stuff and your videos have been very helpful. I'm using a hyper tough 80 lumen torch from asda supermarket which uses 2 batteries so I probably needs replacìng

I edc one of two lights: Lumintop FWAA or Rovyvon Aurora A29. I also keep an Olight S2R Baton II in our key basket in the living room for quick access.

I’m currently EDCing a I5R from olight and have been considering a larger model as it’s getting darker heading into the winter season. While I do agree with you about not really needing more than 150 lumens it would be nice to have the option to hit those higher numbers.

250 imho is by far best option be it medium or short range. 250-500 for hand lamps, 300 max for headlamps. i had fenix HL60R and loved it , but 900 lumens for headlight?! now im settled with TK22 v1 and petzl tactikka+ . will deff buy another olight and fenix though.

Hey I've been carrying the brass aaa drop flashlight. Love it, it was the best price for a brass flashlight I could find.

I carry an olight i1R2 EOS. I love the size for EDC and the max output is fine for my needs. I would prefer, however, a lower minimum output for moving around my house at night without waking anyone up. I think moonlight mode is an underrated and under-discussed feature.

Hi Maurice, nice video and it has given me some new points to consider. For example, I never thought too much about batteries potentially exploding. As of now, I tried an Olight i3T EOS, a Ledlenser P2R, SureFire Titan Plus and a Nitecore Tini 2. The Olight and the Nitecore my main ones since the Nitecore is on my keychain and Olight is the most useable one with its pocket clip. Thinking 'bout getting maybe a titan version of the Nitecore Tini 2 one day. Keep up the good work & have a nice day.

Started watching your videos because I've recently got interested in EDC flashlights. Currently using a Olight Baton 3 Premium Edition with Charging Case. Wouldn't mind having the Baton 3 since its bigger and probably last longer in the battery department. Keep up the videos man!

This is a really good video quailty and vaule it brings. Things I wanted to know. Thank you sir. My favorite edc torch is my i5r eos titanium olight. I also carry a cheapy wuben c3 as my first 1k+ lumen light but I'd really love to upgrade soon to another high power torch as my tactical light just not sure which route to go

I use a OLight I5T EOS for work and taking my dog for walks at night. It’s compact enough to daily but the turbo mode works well at night

Great video as always my current EDC flashlight is the OLIGHT 1R2 Pro. Like you mentioned in the video I don’t need more than 180 lumens it provides and prefer the ubiquity of USB-C charging over other alternatives.

Imma keep it real. I carry a little flashlight with me everyday. Never use it. When looking for something in the dark, always grab my phone and has never failed to be the solution. Still carry the flashlight lol 😂

I'm a security officer + Air National Guard and I'm currently EDCing the Olight Baton 3 Pro Desert Tan, gotta say it's the best out there I've owned in terms of usage and durability, I always carry it with me + I use it all shift long without the need of charging it. Wanna try the Thrunite Catapult Mini to compare it to the Baton 3 Pro.

I really love the safety warning in the beginning. I also do not like multi-cell flashlights. I have been a fan of Olight for a few years now. I started with a i3T I had in my kit for multiple years. I even bought a Olight Odin mini for my AR. Yeah they aren't made in the US but that doesn't mean that the company doesn't put out good products. Currently I am ricking an S2R II as my EDC light, with sometimes using the i5T if I need something a little bit smaller. Cheers!
