Dependendo, em algumas situações, dar atenção para esses tipos de artistas acaba contribuindo pra disseminar o pensamento dessas pessoas, ao mesmo tempo que acaba legitimando as atitudes de quem pode escutar e concordar com estes pensamentos... Penso um pouco como você e Henrique... no final acabo sempre separando as coisas e admirando apenas o talento.

Ed Mota is still a great singer, a phenomenon, in fact. He does many shows outside Brazil, and records more in English than in Portuguese. He is a fan and fanatic connoisseur of blues and jazz, has a radio show about blues and jazz (knows everything, of all times - he's an encyclopedia of blues and jazz), makes soundtracks for movies (Tarzan, for example) and is also a dubber. He is also a multi-instrumentalist, besides having multi instruments in his own voice and record collector (he has more than 30 thousand titles). Many Brazilians think he's superb, but that's our so well known mongrel complex!

"Manoel" is a really nice song. Good idea! About Disney: Ed Motta did not only wrote the main theme for Tarzan and sang it, but he also produced the whole album in Portuguese as well. Really nice comment!

Ed Motta canta muito, a extensão vocal dele é brincadeira, ele brinca de cantar, em termos de voz, acho que não tem pra ninguém no Brasil(claro, falando da música popular).

Ed Mota is amazing! I don't know if any brazilian artist played with Pino Daniele, but i know there is at least two Brazilian versions of his songs. Bem Que Se Quis, played by Marisa Monte is a version of E po' che fa. Quanno chiove has a version named Quando se Chove, played by Patrícia Marx.

Frank, about your Question at 02:00, Ed Motta always like to improvise MANY sounds during the whole song. Sometimes even sacrificing a bit of the lyrics to put some new sounds and groove into it. Ed, tem essa feeling esse Groove, E o feeling, a 3scoma dele foi a Black Music, desde o Corpo E até o mais puro R&B Assim como eu ele também e do Rio e nos andamos na mesmos Bailes escutaneo os DJs do Rio que introduziram o Funk USA 80's E muito da sua voz vem dessa época ouvi do Brian Mckight Donny Hathaway Marvin G, MAZE D train etc. Ele é fenomenal e seus músicos são brilhantes

Ed Motta used to go out touring around Europe, and he's kind of addicted to world music. I saw him once saying that he always walks around the town where he'll make a concert to find LP shops and buys everything he can find in order to expand his musical background. My favorita song from Ed Mota is "Clareia" but i also like his interpretation of Tarzan, I guess you would like It.

It seems to me you almost got the whole picture. What is actually going on is a cover indeed, and it is played in a very alternative, harmonically complex and syncopated way. BUT the thing is, he is doing so counting on the fact that the original arrangement and melody are completely familiar to who's listening and singing along. So it works more as a complement to the original version playing in the audience's mind. When you know the original by heart and listen to this, it's much cooler. This guy is a true musical genius.

Ed Motta's major piece of work still the brasilian version of the Tarzan's soundtrack, from the disney animation movie.

That's a cover song, Caso Sério is Rita Lee's. This guy would go to school with no book in his backpack bragging to his teachers we did need them, he was going to be a singer. Checkout his authorial work, there's plenty stuff there.

Ed Motta is HUGE!!!!!!!!!! It's a shame that he was a hit only until the mid 90s...

He's just improvising. The commercial version of the song is more "well behaved", he's just having fun with it.

I really think you should react to some Raul Seixas, he is truly a legend! Some of the most famous would be "Eu nasci a dez mil anos atrás", "Gita", "Metamorfose Ambulante", "Cowboy Fora da Lei", they're all calssics and they're all genius.
