Tra i grandi, certamente il meno conosciuto. Una carriera in sordina la sua, fino al riconoscimento tardivo degli anni ’70. Del canadese Ed Bickert e della sua Telecaster ci parla il chitarrista materano Dino Plasmati, che poi esegue in duo con Pierluigi la meravigliosa melodia di ‘When sunny gets blue’, successo di Nat King Cole.

Thank you for your review of Ed's biography and unique style of playing. Mille Grazie ! As a Canadian, I was more familiar with Ed's playing in Toronto clubs and of course the Paul Desmond album - it's a guitar and sax treasure. By all accounst he was humble and did not seek fame. I have been playing jazz guitar for a few decades (mainly Big Band). I have learned many of Ed's chord voicings, but still cannot play his melodic comping spontanesously in a small combo. Ed was creative "on the spot" and some of his passing chords or notes seem chromatic rather than always "in key". There are many accurate transcriptions (notation and TAB) availabel on line from Francois Leduc, also a Canadian guitarist with a fine "ear". Best wishes from London, Canada.
