Hi, I have a tip/request for testing the poop avoidance of these robots: It would be good to test the poop avoidance on carpets, especially the deep long-haired ones because, from my experience, animals tend to go on carpets rather than on hard floors.

@VacuumWars I bought this. And had to return it. My two cents and maybe yo Ivan add this to your tests. 1-carpets with black lines… it seems to consider them as barrier, and will not want to cross them… I tried putting them inside the carpet and it would clean around it. 2-The kitchen kick board is not detected. So it would stay almost a full robot away from the edge of the kitchen counter.

I had the thing for 48 hours. It refused to remember maps, could not deal with my angled wall, kept losing its base, freaking out, getting stuck, and frankly it was using an insane amount of water as it had to constantly return to the base in Vac & Mop mode to wash itself... even if it never used the mop. It also constantly made a god aweful grinding noise, presumably from a defective rubber part. Frankly, my experience can be summed up as: I had to baby sit the thing so much it was taking longer than just cleaning the house myself. I'd also like to point out, even on the edge cleaning mode, this thing left an entire unit's length between it and my wall. It refused to clean anywhere near edges. Now, WHEN it worked it worked crazy well. I manually vacuumed and mopped my floors the day before and the thing pulled an insane ammount of dirt, hair, and grime out (selling me on the fact I "need" a daily robo vac). That said spending multiple hours baby sitting and debugging the product just to get 1 full clean is not acceptable.

I returned it after 3 weeks. Kept forgetting where its base was after finishing a whole house clean. It's strange because it knew where the base was during cleaning and returned to wash mop and empty dirt bin every 15 minutes. But when it was done cleaning the whole house, it would go to area where base was not at and keep trying to find it there until it ran out of battery. I re-mapped the house and it did the same thing again. I was liking it until it started doing this. It also had a lot of carpet fuzz built up in the pre filter that i had to clean every couple runs. The filter is supposed to be cleaned with water but it didnt get clean from rinsing it. I had to replace the filter every week.

I bought the N8 and was surprised that it went under my king size bed and under my couches in the living room. I returned it as it did not have an empty station and found the mapping a bit erroneous. I purchased the T20 and it is amazing. Disappointingly it does not go under my bed for the couches as the N8 did. There is an area in my kitchen that it just will not clean. I returned it thinking it might be a problem with the unit. My second T20 is doing the same thing. I absolutely love all its functions. It vacuums and mops beautifully. Love all its features. It just does not like my kitchen. I am going to try and have it clean my kitchen at different times of the day to see if the shadows are causing the error. Support have advised that dark spots on wooden floors can be misleading and the Deebot thinking it is a hole it can fall into. But the rest of my living room is the same flooring, and it does a great job there. I'm willing this little robot to work as I love everything about it.

LOVE your channel. I never buy anything vaccum without watchig here first! I have a two year old Roomba i7+. The battery is losing lots of life and frankly it requires a lot of hands on support. (it gets stuck or wont charge on a regular basis) Of course, It does not mop either. I am now debating on wheter to buy a new battery or just get a better unit! The reason it gets stuck is the probe that sticks out of the top hangs on things - mostly counters. This one looks like it simply will not clean under counter overhangs at all. When I look at the lower right corner @ 4:28 I see a whole bunch of floor untouched so it just stays away from counters so it wont get stuck (good!) but I will step in coffee gounds and crumbs close to the counters! (bad) That is a an interesting and tough trade off though. Never stuck but never really clean ariound the edges. Tough call! You should add and overhang/counter test to your regimine!

I bought one of these 2 weeks ago and I have been extremely satisfied so far. It’s my first robot vacuum and I’m very glad I spent a bit more and went with the T20. I have a good mix between short pile carpet, hardwood floor and a thick carpet. My only slight con is sometimes the T20 doesn’t quite get as close to the skirting boards when mopping as I’d ideally like.

I am really surprised at the positive review. I had the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni (TEO Omni Costco version, which is identical) for about 3 months, and I had to return it to Costco. The app is absolutely horrific and disorganized, and no matter how I change the copious amounts of settings, it refuses to clean edges, and yet will repeatedly try to run over very large obstacles. We have 100% hard flooring with no transitions, and although it cleans the large wide open areas very well, it just fails in so many other areas. Now I have to decide if I should try a RoboRock without the Costco safety net. In the meantime we use Dyson Omni-Glide cordless as a first pass for dust, and a Tineco Floor ONE S3, and those together do a great job. And who doesn't need a little exercise?

After some early adopter pains, my T20 has been working quite well. It does well with obstacle avoidance, but it has a hard time with these small blur Nerf balls that we toss around for our cat. It’s ran over them a few times and they get stuck in the main brush. But the mopping and vacuuming performance has been outstanding. Oh, and I’ve had the same issues with the app. It’s buggy at best.

I'm returning this robot for the Roborock Q Revo. While it eventually cleans the whole house, its navigation is hesitant and inefficient. It constantly changes direction when encountering even minor obstacles, making it feel unsure of itself. Additionally, the app's layout is not well layed out as roborocks.

I would like to see a ranking or list of your favorite robot vacuums for carpet only. It is a big concern of mine and isnt done well by many. I have a Roomba S9+, which you said (a year and a half ago) was a great pock for carpet enthusiasts. It has been fantastic. However, now they are discontinuing parts after only releasing it a couple years ago. I would love for you to address that as well. Maintaining a robot vacuuming shouldn't be that difficult. Its interesting! Now, I have to try and source aftermarket parts. I would really love for you to address this in another video as well. I will likely buy whatever robot vacuum you recommend as the "carpet expert vacuum". Thanks in advance and great work! I love your channel!

I’ve had the T20 for a month, along with a Roborock S8 to compare (no base station, but I wanted to see which was best with a view to importing an S8 Pro Ultra). I’ve sent the S8 back. The navigation was mostly incredible but it kept getting stuck between chair legs and needed rescuing. It also started saying it had a LiDAR error and would get lost. The S8 also had poor obstacle avoidance, chewing up dog toys. Also the S8’s dual roller is amazing at getting dog hair off carpet, by it kept rolling up small rugs under itself. After being rescued and put back in the same place, or as close as possible, the S8 often struggled to figure out where it was, then failed to dock and the maps would get messed up. The Ecovacs T20 isn’t quite as good at general navigation, especially around room edges, but it hasn’t got stuck once and avoids all obstacles. It’s been very reliable, it just does its job and docks without issue. The T20 carpet cleaning isn’t close to the incredible carpet performance of the S8, but it’s OK if you do a couple of passes on the max setting. However the biggest issue is the app - I also find it freezes and needs restarting. Also can’t name rooms, which is annoying and strange. A bug I have also noticed is that it’s deletes my rugs and carpets from the map if I clean a different room. Otherwise it’s usable and as the vac itself has been the most reliable (so far) of all the ones I have tried (including the Roomba J7+ which was a complete nightmare) So I’ll be keeping the T20. It far from perfect, with a sub-average app and so-so carpet and edge cleaning, but at least I can leave the house and be confident it will finish the job and not need the baby sitting and constant manual intervention the S8 did. I do agree the Roborock Q Revo will give it a serious run for its money, and much cheaper, as long as it doesn’t have the same problems I had with the S8. I probably would have got one if they were available where I am.

  • @BadgerDom

    @BadgerDom

    10 ай бұрын

@@ap99149 The J7+ had amazing obstacle recognition and avoidance, and it was well built. But I had endless problems - sensor errors, bumper saying it was stuck when it wasn’t, made strange noises, the suction power and carpet clean started great but got worse and worse over time, despite regular maintenance of filter and brushes. The navigation was poor and it would miss patches for no reason, so I had to send it back for a spot clean. It was always the same patches it missed with no obstacles, just clear floor. There was obviously a bug with the navigation algorithm, and it really showed that lack of LiDAR was an issue. The LiDAR also meant it had to bang around to ‘feel’ it’s way around more, which marked the wall and resulted it a less accurate map. Another problem was it’s cloud based, using Amazon Web Services. A number of times AWS was down, or the software would not connect, and the vac could not be used. That to me seems insane, local control is important to me. Finally after a few months it just stopped in the middle of my kitchen and said it was stuck. It wasn’t, it must have been failed sensor and could not be recovered. That’s when I returned it.

I don't have an S8, however I do have an S7 maxV and that thing never really gets stuck and has pretty brilliant navigation, and amazing vacuuming! Without (and with too, to be honest) the Ultra dock it won't come close to the same mopping as these newer vacuum robots, but it's still been a godsend for me. Btw, the issue of not finding where the robot is after you move it yourself is too real, I've just learnt to place it near its dock and then make it go back out to avoid headaches

Also, it decided to not notify me when we were away that it ran out of clean water. Also, the combinations of mopping and no vac and vice versa weren't available at the time. The water pump system is loud af. 2) the bin clearing is also insanely loud. 3) for a 580 F^2 home, it took 78 minutes to vacuum and mop. It had to go back 6 times to refresh the mop. 4) even on quiet it felt a bit loud moving around the house. 5) for some reason, on the first pass through it didnt want to really get into the corners. 6) the room divider kept giving me errors and woulsnt let me divide obvious rooms. 7) the voice commad is stupid hard to pronounce. I'm scared to move on from it when these new ones seem to just be moving around dirty water on the floor.. so weird.. This needs a clean water tank and it does it suck the dirty water off the floor or just swirl it around? Otherwise it would need to go back to the base every minute here.. I have white floors, they get dirty fast. The demo wood floors look clean but I feel like mine would have dirty swirl marks everywhere unless I had it go to the base nonstop which is a massive energy drain.😢

I got the T10+ for $549 on Prime Day from Best Buy competing. Seeing as the T9+ is just now clearancing for the same cost and all major retailers returning to $950 until they clearance them as well, $900+ including shipping if direct sale from China on T20, no tank for mopping and rather rinse and reuse, and finally the omission of the camera all make me happy I went with T10+. I like the camera to use as a UGV I can check on things like alarm sensors or simply making sure all is good while away and it parks camera inward (never once got an alarm notice of motion after re-enabling my motion in 3 years owning the T8 Omni when running the robot on sentry checking shit out for when away for those making such stupid jokes or actually concerned), it's actually a valued feature and I don't get the concern seeing as I'm not walking around naked in front of the robot vacuuming nor would care should China see my dong anyhow. Inboard tank + camera make my win, plus no slime trail dragging nuts with the wet clit spinners.

Great review. I’ve been waiting for your review since the initial “sponsored” reviews came out on launch. How does it do with pet hair? I currently have a T8 osmo and it initially struggled emptying the bin. But I think there’s been some firmware updates to improve this as I’m certainly noticing less issues. The ecovacs app isn’t the best for stability and I notice the same issues on the T8. I hear the roborocks app is better but in the UK we can’t get the S8 pro ultra so to import and pay a premium I think I can live with it. Do you know if there’s any issues with having two ecovacs vaccums from different regions in the app? My T8 was a Chinese import so I have the app setup as Chinese region. I assume I can add another vacuum to my account purchased in the UK (one upstairs one downstairs)

I bought the T8 Omni AIVI based on your partial review. The software flaws alone make it hands down the worst thing I have ever bought. No "AI learning" it constantly ran into the same things over and over. it stores maps of rooms in a way that fills up it's tiny memory over time. Ex: if you move a chair, it then thinks in must be on a new floor of your home, ceates a new map for that floor, does not delete the old map. The maps fill up at approximately AG after it burns through the alphabet the first time. Returned to evovacs twice, they said it works as intended.

I say partial review, because you said you were going to use it in your home and give an update, at which time you must have ran into this issue after a few weeks, unless you live like a robot and never move any chairs. ;) Insert captcha here. When it works, it works good, but after three days of use, the data processing of the dog brain just can't keep up with the data it has to sort through, and the added search time leads to glitches in other operations IE it seems lost sometimes. The misleading claims from evovacs are unforgivable IMO

I am just waiting for the day that robot vacs can steam the floors with the rotating heads instead of using soap. Mechanically, it's probably not as hard as it sounds like to do but it requires significantly more power output then then most Li-Ion batteries would probably push. I'm hoping cheaper and higher energy density batteries of the Sodium-Ion variety make it from BYDs electric vehicles to robovacs to allow higher power cleaning. I've found using steam to be more effective at removing stuck on messes, less costly (over time), and never leaves any sticky soap residue.

Hey, I also purchased a Revo on sale and already received it a few days ago. Couple thoughts: 1. It extremely slow on standard setting. I haven't had a robo vacuum in about 10 years so I wasn't sure what to expect. They are still very slow. I can vacuum whole 500ft downstairs (living room, bathroom, and kitchen/dining) in about 10-15 minutes and do a better job. Revo took 40 minutes to vacuum less and it still missed debris. I timed both, vacuum and mopping on standard. Mopping was a bit faster, but because it has to go back to base and wash a mop every 15 minutes it still took 40 minutes. I haven't tested/timed vacuuming and mopping at the same time yet. 2. I was surprised at how quiet it was vacuuming on quiet setting. It was near silent it seemed, yet still picked up I would say 99% of stuff on our laminate floors. Obviously on carpet it will be pretty noisy because you need more power, but our whole downstairs is all flooring and it felt like it was near silent. I tried using more power and it would still fail to pick up all debris, so it seems like there's no point in using more power and making vacuum louder if you only have laminate flooring. 3. Horrible obstacle avoidance with a lot of false positives. This is probably the thing that's going to make me return the vacuum. I am extremely surprised T20 scored so high in obstacle avoidance since I believe both of these use same sensors after doing away with camera. Ok, so I knew obstacle avoidance was super weak on this vacuum from watching other reviews, no big deal, I made sure there was no clutter on the floor. But what I wasn't ready for is phantom obstacles. We have dark brown laminate flooring that's gotten quite shiny after about 5 years of people polishing it up with socks. And I don't know if it just reflects too much light and messes with vacuum's light sensor or what, but it often freaks out and claims there's an obstruction, marks it on the map and then starts going around this phantom obstacle. It nearly got itself trapped by claiming there's an obstruction somewhere close to corner and barely wiggled itself it out of there in wide open area. That's pretty frustrating concidering this is a nearly 1k vacuum. After every run so far I had to go into the map and dismiss about 5 "obstacle" areas and app warns me that once I do that, obstacle avoidance is disabled for that spot on the map. So basically, pretty soon I'm going to end up with 0 obstacle avoidance in my house. I should just go into the app setting and disable it altogether, save me the headache of dismissing obstacles in the map. Overall, cool vacuum. I'm not disappointed, just pretty underwhelmed. Still deciding if it's worth it or if I should return it.

I have the last version of this vacuum and haven't found the navigation particularly good and would question if it even has a functional bump sensor on the front of it. Many are the times that it has slammed into things that should be obvious. For example, it slammed into the fireplace hearth - and no, it's not black - and every time I pushed pause and moved it away, it went right back to it and continued to slam into it. And it does this regularly. It pushes light furniture around the room, so it's obviously not detecting it. It's not likely a faulty unit because I've had 2 of them and they've both done it. The other day, I saw some debris on the bathroom floor while I was cleaning and it was still there after it was done. The Roborock doesn't have these issues and it can do the carpet without removing the pads. Yes, I know the new Ecovacs finally raises the pads. I appreciate not having to mop and vacuum as often as without it, but it's not been great.

What's better the T20 omni (1000$ on sale on amazon), the Q revo (1000 on sale on amazon) or the Dreame L10s ultra (1100 on sale on amazon)? Would really appreciate your help!

Is it a problem that it doesn't have an internal water tank in the vacuum? Do the mopping pads dry out quickly? Does it need to return way to often too rewet the mopping pads? The review didn't cover this but I would like to know. 🙏

I’ve not found it to be an issue, in fact I see it as a positive as there is one less point of failure. It gets wet anyway during the washing process

@@BadgerDom Thanks! That's helpful. How long does it mop for on average until it returns to the base station to re-wet the mopping pads to continue mopping?

Why did you say at 1:30 that the omni station refills the water tank.. t20 omni has no on board watertank... i trust your reviews. I didn't think i needed to double-check you...

I keep seeing reviewers miss that there is no on board water tank. It is a big deal for people with multi floors.

It goes back to clean the mops, so they are wet and there is no need for one. But cleaning the base plate is a pain.

@@markmuilwijk Well basically your first area will be superwet and gradually the mopping will be less efficient until your robot rewet its mop.. How many times you need your robot go back to the base just to wet the mop?

@@anubizz3 Thanks, that makes sense about the gradually dryer pads. I have the Deebot X1 Omni, which has a setting for how often it should return to wash the pads. It can go up to 20 minutes without returning (for when floors are pretty clean). I'm worried that the T20 Omni will be returning too much, so much so that cleaning will take forever, and I'm wondering if anyone here has the T20 Omni and knows a ball-park average for how long the T20 can go with wet pads before it rewets them in the base station. I'm asking for a friend who wants one.
