As Nigeria’s economy has developed, the standard of living of people has improved and this has also had positive impacts on peoples’ quality of life. For example, more people are now enrolled in secondary education, income has risen, and life expectancy has increased. However, economic development comes at a cost to the environment, and this can lead to social challenges that can actually reduce QOL. For example, river and air pollution that affect health can reduce a person’s QOL. In addition, terrorist organisations such as Boko Haram still operate in Nigeria and this creates fear within society.
