Every week, Eco India brings you stories that inspire you to build a cleaner, greener and better tomorrow.
Dye-infused effluent worsens India's water crisis. A fabric workshop and chemical firm in Gujarat have some ideas - from harvesting rainwater to bio-remediation via canna - and using sustainable pigments.

One thing to notice is the majority of workers working in these textile mills are mostly 50 plus years old. young people are mostly absent shows the last years of Surat's textile industry.

There is not even one manufacturer who cares for the environment. Everyone looks for shortcuts. You should watch the highcourt proceeding of Sabarmati issue. Biggest of the players trying to wriggle away. A bunch of crooksters.

Chemical dyes contaminates the waste water and the untreated effluents pollute the groundwater. Moving forward waste water treatment is the way to go. Zero discharge is a dream.
