This machine just saved my brothers life. My brothers organs were shutting down from the delta virus. There was no chance he could recover the doctors said. He went through two cprs, His kidneys were failing, heart was failing and Lungs. A miracle happened and my brothers lungs started to heal. Thank you ecmo for saving my brother. I have cystic fibrosis and a few years ago, i lost one of my best CF friends. She had a double lung transplant and went into rejection... she was put on ECMO and never woke up. But it’s also important to remember that those with chronic lung disease most often ECMO and life support of any kind, is not successful. That being said, I’m so incredibly happy and relieved to hear of the COVID-19 and stroke patients as well as other patients who have needed ECMO that got a second chance at life. ❤️

ECMO was the tech that saved our 3 year old in October when she went into accute respiratory failure from a virus. ♥️ 5 months later and you can't even tell. If you hear ECMO, there's hope! Pray!

Praise God your 3 year old made it! My husband is on ecmo for COVID. He has SRDS, (I think that’s the acronym). The doctor told me today that his lungs are fine, but they are very inflamed. That gave me hope. I pray that he heals up soon, it’s tough seeing your loved one like this.

I was on E.C.M.O. at Loma Linda University in Southern California when I was a child, 7 years old. At the time, E.C.M.O. was only in 6 hospitals nationwide. -Undiagnosed Epilepsy but an infection from Pneumonia. At 33 as a young adult and highly Self-Reflective, comfortable with my Mortality I am now more than ever eternally grateful to the doctors & nurses who helped saved my Life, basically. A few of which I am still in contact with today. This was beautiful to watch. God Bless Doctors, Nurses and the Neurologist Dr. Stephen Ashwal who save children's lives and work daily with this amazing machine ❤️ 🙏!! Peace ✌🏻 and Love from San Francisco 💕

@@dentoninman1496 he's been on it 2 days he's still the same .. He flat lined on Jan 7th they got him back quick .. They put him in a medical coma and ventilator but he kept getting worse .. So now is on ECMO .. Double pneumonia has did this to him .. He's just 32 years old with a wife and 4 kids .. How are you doing now since the ECMO? And thank you for tesponding it means a lot to me

@@davenstorm2722 Good to go. Same thing. Total respiratory failure due to pneumonia that I let go unchecked for a few months. The Drs at Methodist didnt think I was gonna make it. It was a last ditch effort and I made it. I was 39.

We use this stuff for Hantavirus in Chile, giving 60% of survivability instead of 0%. Now it's also used for critical coronavirus covid-19 patients

Saved my life when I was 15 I needed ECMO while was in the PICU waiting on a lung transplant

1:18 2:05 a bedside ECMO specialist is with the patient 24 hours a day to insure everything functions properly

My son is currently on an ecmo machine. He was born with a rare heart defect called cctga and ebsteins anomaly of the tricuspid valve. Only found out at 12 and in heart failure. The op to fix the valve caused 2 cardiac arrests then his heart was too weak and now he's currently on ecmo. Please pray he gets better 🙏

My little Sister was on this and it saved her life she was born with a Heart Defect she had a hole in her heart and was 10 days on this she had 2 Heart Surgery then a Complication happend the lungs had Pleuritis they also did Lung Surgery and later her Kidneys collapsed they didnt function later out of a miracle her kidneys start functioning thank God but sadly she also had a Ischamie in the Brain now she is disabled cant talk also because of very strong medication and has a Heart Vavle maybe oneday she needs a new Heart Surgery we dont know yet what will come but she had many Heart Problems even after this she had to take Heart and Kidney Medication its a rly miracle story but its also rly not easy because she dont understand it🥺😭

no, either lungs or heart. this machine supplies oxygen to the blood. the two organs that do that are lungs then heart.

Dialysis is for non functional kidney. Dialysis help remove toxins from blood 🩸

Yes the heart still beats 💓 the electrical signals in the heart keep it going and don't need to be stopped. The ecmo is just giving the heart extra help.

ECMO is for the most critical situations. Very few covid patients will require ECMO. It is a specialized field that requires 24/7 monitoring.
