Echo Chainsaw CS-352... can it handle the job?

Today we're testing the Echo CS-352 chainsaw, can It handle the job? We pushed the Echo to the limit. It's a great chainsaw for limbing and cutting small diameter logs, but it struggles when it comes to thicker cuts. Watch the entire video to see how it performs!

    I think you're pushing the limits of that little 34cc. Im surprised it even cut as much and as big of wood as it did! I have the 4910, broken in and muffler modded, carb retune, and oh boy does she sing the birds to sleep!

    The bar barley was long enough to go through the big log. I say you needed at least an 18 inch and the next echo up! When your maxing out a small trim saw stop and re sharpen the blade and make sure it’s a full chisel chain and fill up the oil often. Great video!! Thank you..

    This model is echos cheapest model mostly residential, it's not meant for tree services or logging companies. Yes you can put up to a 24 inch bar on this model but I recommend no bigger than 20 inch because it's not a high cc engine and the torque isn't that good for heavy cutting. Likely it'll start jamming on anything over 18 inches. Lite duty work is plenty for this model or cutting fire wood size cuts. I just didn't see paying $400.00 for the bigger more commercial model like the 590 Timberwolf since I don't use a chainsaw that often other than hunting firewood for my smoker and fire pit.

    I bought one a couple of years ago and it's fantastic. My only criticism is a tank of fuel doesn't last long unlike my Stihl MS200T (35cc) which goes for ages between fills.

    Who needs a log cart when you have a log carrier that looks like that? It must bring an added pleasure to a day cuttng wood 👍🏻

    I bought a Echo CS-352 last weekend. It's like a knife through butter so far I really like it. The Stihl MS-170 was on sale for $159 but I rolled the dice and got the Echo at $259. After purchasing I wasn't sure if I made the right decision but many arborists claim the Echo is the better home owner saw vs the entry level Stihl so I opened the box and used it. Time will tell but how good it really is but so far I'm pleased.

    Glad you’re happy with it! It was our first chainsaw too. It’s great for around the house and small jobs. We just got a STIHL 311 for firewood cutting, we’ll review that one this year. Thanks for the comment!

    I bought one (CS352) cut up one tree and had to have the carb overhauled. The air filter does not filter as it should carb got full of dust.I have a cs400 that works great. The CS352 spends more time in the shop than on the job.

    In my honest opinion you could use a 2 wheel cart to shuttle those big logs. Everybody telling you adj carb.. adj chainsaw to 50cc! 490 are great pro saws at bargain price. The 590 if you can handle the extra weight.

    I think it did a good job considering the diameter of the tree you were cutting. The diameter looked about a 5 gallon bucket or slightly bigger. I'd use the 40 or 50cc saw for trees that size & a quicker cut. The 352 43cc for large coffee/paint can size wood works great for my needs. I'm new to chainsaws and only use them for a few months. I only use methanol free fuel as well. Curious what applications other folks are using. I only use the saw at 1.5k-2.5k elevation as well. Thanks for sharing the video.

    Well I don't know if most people know this but always replace the chain blade with a name brand like Oregon when buying a new echo chainsaw. Echo puts the cheapest blades they can legally install and believe me I've seen stupid people go out and buy an echo then complain it doesn't cut well. Slap a good chain on and that chainsaw will cut like a hot butter knife through butter.

    How do you mod the mufflers? I just bought one and apparently the air filtration system is faulty. Will address that soon as well as other mods. Does the factory limiting sleeves limit the throttle opening or fuel mixture adjustments? Thanks

  • @ericsalyer2869

    @ericsalyer2869

    @@kzoomin Remove the muffler. And the exhaust outlet (the little diffuser that is held on by 2 screws) cut those fins out. And on the back side of the muffler Echo has a plate that cuts off 1/2 of the exhaust Hollow that out. And take a 1/2” or so drill bit and drill down thru it to the outlet And the limiting sleeves is for the high and low jet. The throttle is just a screw that pushes a butterfly flap open After modding the muffler you will have to adjust the jets Depending on where you live (air temp air density ect) all change the amount of fuel required Only turn that high jet IN about 1/8th turn at a time When your cutting a log lift the saw up slightly and it should 4 stroke or “burble” instantly if it doesnt its running too lean
