Echills Wood Railway (EWR)'Standard Gauge locomotive Gala Weekend'(17.06.2012):
OK, it's 24 minutes long but if you are a fan of the steam locomotive hurtling along the main line bellowing smoke & steam (just like Me!) then this is pretty similar...............
Except, the action here takes place in a land of 'Giants'!! The EWR is a wonderful 7 1/4 gauge railway set (as the name might suggest) in woodland within the Kingsbury Water Park just a couple of miles from Junction 9 of the M42 in North Warwickshire, further details can be found at www.ewr.org.uk/ OR countryparks.warwickshire.gov....
I have not provided lists of locomotives or owners participating in this 'extravaganza' of engineering in a small scale, I hope however that you will find the virtually none stop action as enjoyable to watch as it was for me to film. The intensity & frequency had to be seen to be believed and as the signalling is not designed for such a 'schedule' there was 'permissive block' working with hand signalling which worked effectively & kept the trains moving. All the filming is from the trackside at various locations around it's scenic route & stations so make a cuppa while it's 'buffering', sit back, relax & hopefully enjoy these 'Little Trains' in the 'Land of the Giants'!!

Excellent coverage of a great weekend,we attended on a damp saturday with our B1 "Roedeer"but had to leave early due to a problem at home,we managed to video a bit of the action this has been uploaded on youtube as well today, have a look.Thanks for sharing your video with us.Chris.
Excellent video. I just sat and watched in admiration! I appreciated the lack of commentary or music - just enjoying the sound of the trains, the locos working away. I particularly liked the sound effects of the short wheel base wagons passing over the bridge on the goods train. Oh the memories! Thank you. I must visit one day.

It seems you liked the video Mathew but I think you're missing the point and should read the write up. This is in fact 7.1/4 (7.25) guage and by 'Standard Guage' it refers to the fact that loco's are scale replica's of those which operate(d) on the standard guage network of Britains Railways and the gala weekend is dedicated to running them.
