If you didn't know Echa Soemantri was also known for his drum solos with some crazy diverse medley for his minus drum track. Those transitions, are the trademarks And that last one you pointed looks like a version of a steel pan. That's a very personal drumset, I wouldn't know what I do except I try around my way

So many proverbial toys - it reminds me of my high school and college days playing lots of multiple percussion pieces. He explored so many ideas and possibilities, definitely elevated by the amount of available textures. Diving in deeper and as a contrary, note the up/down rim possibilities, simply by exploring the actual spaces between subsections of instruments. Creative cat, fun to listen to, subscribing to both.

8:26 "this is not hard actually, just ordinary difficulty" (in playful manner, not a cocky one, just joking and interacting with audiances) 8:46 "i already bought this, it would be wasted if i don't use it" (talking about that beach music snare thing, i don't know i'm not a drummer) first of all his name is Yesaya Soemantri (Yesaya is Indonesian spelling of Isiah), which means he is a Christian, and his father Willy Soemantri is Indonesian musician in 70's - 80's who in latter years involved a lot in christian music and church services, so Echa studied a lot in gospel music environment since he was little, he also can play several instruments like piano (albeit in lesser degree), but what makes Echa is so unique to me is that he explores a lot of percussive pattern, signature sound, and tendencies of many Indonesian traditional music such as from Betawi (traditional jakarta music) , sunda (west java), and Bali, even the riff in 9:16 is taken from traditional betawi song,... obviously a lot of Indonesia drummers also has traditional music influences before, and obviously at this day and age seemingly all young drummers in Indonesia competing in "who has the best gospel chops" but in my ears Echa is the best in combining both elements in a melodic context
