10 years on and we're still waiting for MGM to restart the series. Though rumours are rife after the Amazon acquisition that a Stargate announcement will be made "soon" (this year or next) and that serious efforts are beginning to be made behind the scene's. The actors strike actually put it all back by a couple years. Here's hoping it won't be too much longer. In the mean time, the new Stargate: Timekeepers game is out for a little hit of Stargate goodness.

Ok its 2018 and we are dangerously close to 2019, WHEN THE FUCK ARE WE GETTING NEW STARGATE?! And if Michael Shanks is not in there i swear to the system lords... Edit: oh no please no SGU tones anymore, it might have its own appeal to some people, but its just not Stargate, make some more STARGATE like SG1/Atlantis sort of stuff.

Yeah that was a surprise when i watched it. Tbh I don’t think of that because it was too illogical. Andromeda i barely had exposure from that. Mostly it was star trek TNG, enterprise, stargate, and star wars for scifi.

SGU was depressing, too many dark characters, bad news in every episode, that is why the fans rejected it.

You are inadvertently indicating the so-called "problem" with Stargate Fandom - it had a small, but very loud minority of people who didn't really want new stories or drama, but the same old pap where everything is nice, sunny, and never changing. They aren't so much fans as people who want comfort food, who want to treat a Stargate story as a sort of family reunion where everyone gets together for a few laughs and a lot of stories of old glories. Problem is that while it might make them happy, it's damn boring and turns off everyone else (that is, 95% of viewers) - including fans like myself who wanted dynamic stories about real people, not fantasies where everyone is perfect and nothing bad ever happened (at least not anything that can't be solved in 44 minutes). It's fans that thought what you just wrote that slowly killed Stargate - for example, by the end of its run Atlantis had so bought into the same old tired SG formula that a once great series had devolved into near self-parody. The new approach of SGU was NECESSARY to save the franchise, but this small and vocal segment of the "fans" weren't about to have anyone take away their increasingly mind numbing comfort food and so lashed out mindlessly. Thus, when Syfy was trying to get away from ANY space-based series the necessary cover to claim that the "fans" wanted SGU to end. Well, congratulations - this need for tepid, emotionally indulgent non-drama helped to kill one of the best SF TV franchises of all time.

First off Ranillon. Cut the pretentious BS. It wasn't a small minority. The show got shit rating from the start. It was an attempt to smash together the soap opera horse shit of battlestar gallactica with the SG franchise. Because that's all SGU was. A soap opera for teenagers. It didn't have interesting characters, it didn't have interesting stories. It only had one thing going for it, and that was Rush. Who should have been a character on Atlantis. The show was nothing but high school politics and personal drama whaaaaaangst. Pure NARM. It wasn't made to appeal to sci fi fans, and that's why they fucking hated it. It wasn't sci fi, it was a soap opera pretending to be sci fi. Just like game of thrones is a soap opera pretending to be fantasy, and walking dead is a soap opera pretending to be horror. THAT is why hardly anyone watched it. In addition to everything the OP stated.

Ah, the self-righteous Stargate hater crowd has arrived. What you call soap opera the rest of us call real life - sorry to burst your bubble of isolation, but people in general aren't swell folks that always get along and whose problems can be easily fixed in 44 minutes. Sure, the original SG-1 approach was fun, but after ten years it was becoming self-parody, the same old tied clichés repeated again and again. What SGU did was bring Stargate into the real world where things aren't black and white and where even good people can become enemies to one another. And, yes, you were/are a small number. We know that because such similar fair to SGU such as Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad - that is, more hard-hitting, life-is-grey material - is WILDLY popular while the old "nothing bad ever really happens, everyone is a perfect, friendly person (unless they are a stereotypical mustache twirling villain)" comfort food you favor is rightly seen at best as naïve and at worse condescending fantasy. You need to get out of the 70s and join the modern age.

Whose real life? I find the people who say shit like that, never actually have lives that back it up. Your life is so horrible that you can spend time on the internet berating people who don't want to watch depressing soap operas. Yeah, that's REAL dark and gritty cupcake. They generally aren't all sociopathic assholes with a lot of farcical, contrived obstacles to put up with either. Also, you are aware that all tv shows use the compression of time right? They aren't happening in real time. Plenty of episodes take place over days, weeks, or even months. They just cut out all the boring shit that no one, except banal little pieces of shit like you, give a fuck about. So it's really SGU where everything is being solved super fucking fast. Maybe you should try thinking shit through more fuckwit. Opinions - assholes, fill in the rest yourself. SG1 could have done better than the evil ancients, but it and Atlantis were actually good shows right up till the end. SGU was a steaming pile of shit out of the gate. What it did was try to use the soap opera formula of battlestar gallactica and smash it together with stargate. Where people are always assholes, always do the stupidest possible things that get the worst possible results, and degenerate into highschool clique politicking. Appeal to popularity fallacy. Reality tv is still very popular. So is Beyonce. POP music is POPULAR. Why? Because it's easy to digest, mindless and appeals to emotions. The most shallow aspect of life. Game of thrones and breaking bad are also soap operas. They were popular in the 80s, they got popular again. Only now they're being painted with a veneer of genre fiction, to trick gullible cunts like you into watching. Hard hitting? Life is grey? Again, is this coming from any personal experience, or are you what kids today are calling edge lords? Some emo kid that wouldn't know real adversity if it bit you on the ass. Breaking bads premise is taking some wimpy scientist and turning him into scarface. That's paraphrasing the creator of the show. That's straight up classical tragedy structure. There's nothing modern about it. The guy who wrote the game of thrones books worked on soap operas, and copied everything else from the sword and sorcery movies that got popular in the 80s. It's Dallas meets Conan the Barbarian. There's nothing new about that either. You're astoundingly ignorant. The 70's? You mean like MASH, which still holds the record for the most watched TV episode of all time? And was a show that dealt with actual, real life, tragedy, instead of nonsense contrived for the shitty soap operas you watch?

The word pretentious means "attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed." 1. I don't care what you think about me. 2. His language is clearly pretentious. Bordering on egotistical. If you didn't care, then you wouldn't have replied. Seriously... do you morons EVER think anything through before you hit the reply button?

It's only been 4 years since this video. With the hope of more of Stargate something. I'm guessing It was mostly a male audience majority that viewed the 2 shows SG-1 & SGA. I"m also guessing the majority of people in the Audience are Female. What does that mean? I think a female audience does not want the same thing a male audience does. With regard to Action /Adventure shows or movies.
