I watch videos from 2001, and can't help but feel nostalgic. Before digital, before 9/11 and before COVID. There was still a sense of innocence to the world even twenty years ago, although in 2001, we were all saying how bad things were and we wished it was the 80''s or 90's again. Funny how we always look back on the past with rose coloured glasses.

Well, that rose coloured bubble of innocence is also fiction (as you alluded to). Yugoslavia, Iraq-Iran, Somalia, the Falklands War, Central American crisis, Chernobyl, the Challenger blowing up and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Plenty of ways to lose your innocence in the 80's and 90's really.

Pearl Harbor, the only move I ever walked out on. I went to the bathroom about halfway through and thought it'd make no difference if I didn't return to my seat.

I tried so many times to sit through it all. The longest I've ever made it is an hour. I just accepted that it's boring. The actual attack is actually really good, he best part in fact- I had to watch that segment in high school.

What’s The Worst That Could Happen is the worst comedy to be directed by Sam Weisman. George of the Jungle and Dickie Roberts are very much underrated comedies

"What's The Worst That Could Happen?" is an extremely terrible movie. A huge waste of Danny DeVito and Martin Lawrence. The 2000s were not a great comedy era for Martin.

Did you know that the direct to home video sequel to George of the Jungle 2 is with the girl who played the female receptionist in As Good as it Gets? Julie Benz. She was in the scene where Jack Nicholson says, “I take away reason and accountability.”

i've never understood why critics have been roasting michael bay for 30-plus years for his (undeniable) narrative deficiencies when, let's be honest, we all go to see his pictures for the impeccable technical craft and action spectacle - and he always delivers on those fronts. pearl harbor especially has 40 non-stop minutes of some of the best carnage ever put to film, and while i understand that its soap opera nonsense is nauseating for some, i find the totally unironic melodrama to be kind of quaint all these years later. Zimmer's score is fun, too.
