Hello Friends!
In this vlog, we will show you our Journey from Kathmandu to Salleri/Phaphlu in Solukhumbhu region of Nepal by road in a shared Jeep and not by Bus. This is the start of our Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal from Kathmandu and we decided to reach Lukla by road from Kathmandu without taking direct flight to Lukla or Phaplu. This is the old route to EBC trek which can be done by road with NO flight to Lukla.

What is the distance between Kathmandu to Salleri/Phaplu?
Distance between these two destination is approx 260 KM and it takes 8-10 hours to cover the distance between these 2 destination.
Can we go Lukla by Road? Can we reach lukla without flight?
Kathmandu to Solukhumbu by Road
Yes, To Reach lukla (Solukhumbu region) by Road one has to Take a Private/shared Jeep From Kathmadu Till Salleri/Phaplu then you have to Change a Jeep That will drop you Till Kharikhola/Bupsa/Buspa/Thamdada (Nearby group of village) this is the last motorable destination on EBC Trail after that you can trek to Lukla in 1 and half Day. This total Journey will take 3 Days.
How much time does it take to reach Salleri/Phaplu from Kathmandu?
It usually takes 8-10 hour in a Jeep while a bus takes much more than this.

Hi sir,what is the road conditions from Kathmandu to Salleiri? Is this route good for solo travelers? I have plan to delhi to Kathmandu then via Salleiri to reach EBC.may also guide whether trek ebc through Raxaul to birganj then Salleiri or flight through Kathmandu then Salleiri? Yes advance booking is compulsory. These jeeps leave Kathmandu early morning around 5

Yes, if you are going via lukla then you need to take permit from Monjo. Watch this series in Episode four or five we have shared details of it.

Private car is not allowed in this region, you need to take sharing taxi which will cost you around Rs. 2000 NPR per person.

On the same day we took the next jeep and in a small village and next morning it took us 2 hours to reach thamdand from. That village.
