Thank you for positing. My father use to own Traditional Wine Bar in Asmara frequented by Vittorio Bossi. I must have been 7 or so , one day I was walking with my father in komistato Asmara in front of Ambassador Hotel when we bumped to Vittorio ( I remember this as if it was yesterday) . My father had a lot of story to tell me about Vittorio in the British era in Eritrea. He was quit an act to follow. In those days Asmara was by far one of the most well developed centers with blend of the locals (Hamasien ሓማሴን) and Asmarinos ( such as Vittorio) . My root from my mother side is Arbate Asmara and there is more to Vittorio's lyrics in this song than just the beautiful moldy. Unlike my father side who come from Hazega ( 9 Miles north of Asmara) most of the people from Arbate Asmara were highly influenced by what was happening in Asmara at the time. For instance my uncle was a police officer with the Eritrean Federal police in the 50's and use to lunch at Marhari Ferie's restaurant ( which is one of the places Vittorio mentions in this song). So Vittorio is lamenting about Asmarinos, those who were born in Asmara during the 30's and were some what indifferent than the traditional conservative people of Hamasien.

Gideon i would like to address you as a young man,or you are just a troll with out a direction,worse yet you could be an AGAME.Any confident and self respecting Eritrean doesn't duel in mentioning his mother or father village.One of your blander is MEHARI FRE was not a restaurant but a a butcher shop of cows/ax intestines (CHEGORA) in the 60-70ts i myself use to buy 1 kilo for 10 cents.HA hard to believe but 100% true.The second one Vitorio was not in Asmara in BRITISH ERA that was in the 40-50ts he was a kid then.So keep the facts strait.Or just shut your AGAME MOUTH.tell us something we don't know about MEKELE

IDasamussa44 as long as you are Eritrean Asmara is your capital city,and everyone who resides in Asmara is your family.Even Vittorio himself didn't not born in Asmara.He came to Asmara from Mendefera or Adiquala.But he made Asmara his home.Well i am fortunate to have a BIRLE OF MEIS And a lot of joke and laughter in the late 70s.with the legend VITTORIO me and my gang's as teenagers and Vittorio and his peers as grown up adults.In the 70s.

I did not know that Vittorio was born in Seraye. The BIRLE OF MEIS you mention in your post is interesting as my father use to own Meis Bar in Asmara in the 70's. Thank you for posting .
