@@wafflesthecat6661 I did something similar on a squad of Death Company years ago, though I found Eshin Grey still a bit too light for my tastes. I ended up using a 1:2 mix of Eshin Grey with Abaddon Black, shaded with a 1:1 mix of Abaddon Black and Nuln Oil (the wash on its own didn't show that well.) After highlighting and other details, they still look really close to black, though still with notable shading. Now they have Corvus Black available, I'm finding that works quite well to get the same effect.

I'd really like to see that sisters video you reference, is it not up any more? I can't find it.
Nice tutorial, i actually asked for this in a video before 👍🏼 what do you Think about drybrushing the large armor plates exposed to Light with corax black in combination with a Highlighting as in the video? Would These 2 fit together on the Same Model?
@Zumikito
3 жыл бұрын
You can try it, but drybrush can cause rough surface or "scratches" which would not really work with precise neat highlights,but if you make it look damaged, who knows? You could try glazing over the exposed part or airbrushing it instead
I'd recommend dry brushing models models with these colours if you plan on painting lots of models, it won't look as good but you'll get the desired effect minus the headaches.
what is the sister of battle video you mentioned, please? I can't find it. This is what I want to do with my BT's.
Very cool, i kinda wanted to see you paint the shield 😢
I may sound incredibly stupid for asking this, but if I am not supposed to paint my whole army like this, then how am I supposed to paint it? I would like to stick to the eavy metal style throughout my whole army so what am I supposed to do for infantry or these types of units?
Are you letting each Color Dry before Adding the Next Color..? Also is the Order you mention the Colors in. Is the Order it should be Painted..?
My girl saw this video and now she wants to do this for her Sister's army. But with blue robes. I think its going to look great
If I’m not painting the whole army like this, what’s the time saving technique for say troops?
I like your videos. Can I use this for fallout waste land warfare power armour?
"if you don't start with black spray wtf are you doing?" escaping of the pain that is painting white?
I want to edge highlight with red, should i start with Khorne red or other ones?
nmn on edges XD very clever
How are you avoiding your touch ups being textured or thick? I've been starting on the panel lining recently and having trouble getting smooth coverage on small area's, I use a wet pallet.
@Zumikito
3 жыл бұрын
I just apply thin layers, in case of white it takes even more. You could also try going a little but thicker but spreading it more
Do you use the wet palette while edge highlighting? I’m struggling to get a balance between the highlights being watery on the wet palette, and the paint drying out on the end of the brush in a dot when I don’t use it.
@Zumikito
3 жыл бұрын
The trick is to not water down your paint too much, otherwise you lose control over it. I do use wet palette, but don't add as much water
I really would like to add or improve on the video.... except: there is nothing left to ask. Excellently done! Thank you! Maybe some other question.... is there a vid on doing Harlequins?!

How do you get the blue highlight so bright, mine looks so dark compared to those on YT. im following your guides with the same paints and yet the contrast isnt as bright as yours. do you do more than 2 layers of each highlight color? This is my biggest problem with edge highlighting and im not sure why its so hard to get the blue to stand out.
@Zumikito
3 жыл бұрын
Thunderhawk blue? I have no idea, but maybe once you use fenrisian grey, it will get more obvious. Try one part till the end and I am sure you will get the same result.
Could you do this with black and red? I've never painted a mini before, and I just picked up my very first Warhammer 40k minis to build and paint.
@Zumikito
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but your initial highlights have to be quite dark red. Starting from simething like khorne red could work better
That paint brush you have looks so sharp you could use it as a weapon. What brush is that ? Was looking at your supplies you use and it says Winsor Newton. It just looks much longer and Sharper then that. Id like to know, PS I love this video your black looks amazing. I dare you to paint ANYTHING in musou black. Try not to get sucked into whatever you paint as it is rumored to have warp energy in it ! Its that dark !
But you gotta do the whole army like this and go insane. Right of passage for chaos black legion to arrive to the table looking insane from edge highlighting and blocking in all the gold trim.
I just start, so it's pretty great thanks :) What do you use to have a white like this on black ? I try to use Corax white with white scar, but the result is not great :(

funny thing is that today I have scheduled video on how to keep painting when you are not motivated enough - either way, I would pick maximum of 5 dudes at one time and not go as far as doing 3 edge highlights o all of them - if it's the whole army, 1 edge highlight is enough (and maybe do more on your characters if you feel like it)
