Eating Local Kerala Sadya Cuisine 🇮🇳

I tried a Sadya, one of the best meals to get in Kerala. Sadya is a feast of Kerala origin and of importance to all Malayalis, consisting of a variety of traditional vegetarian dishes usually served on a banana leaf in Kerala as lunch. Sadya means banquet in Malayalam. I enjoyed the dish overlooking the backwaters of Kerala.

Kerala is the birthplace of martial arts. it is where the mother of all martial arts kalaripayattu was born. It's gaining in popularity because it uniquely combines defence techniques, dance, yoga and healing systems. various places in Kerala martial art is performed on stage you should see it's excellent. lots of people still think that martial art was invented in China. actually one Indian monk who brought Buddhism to China practiced kalaripayattu and he taught some of it's practice to his disciples in china.

After 5 years of eating Indian food by hand I found it hard to adapt back in NZ using a knife and fork........I had forgotten how and the cutlery spoiled the taste of the food.

The hosts were really nice and polite to explain in a detailed way all the dishes so you are aware of what is being eaten. Alappuzha boat house is the best to relax and have a nice picnic. You missed out drinking local alcohol here that's made with coconut flower known as kallu or toddy. You also missed out trying local dessert usually served in Sadhya meals - The 3 variety Payasam - milk based/coconut & jaggery based. Wonderful video Harry 😍😍💓💓

@hmmm Hinduism, Christianity, Islam have a unique identity and is intertwined in Kerala culture since time immemorial. It gives the state its distinctive identity and also among other several South Indian states( except Karnataka) to form the socio economic fabric of the state. Religious polarisation does not work especially in a state like Kerala. Every religion community have their unique identity and representation which gives them political /economic power & say in every aspect of society. Demographic representation varies across regions starting from north Malabar, central Travancore to the southernmost region of Travancore kingdom. Hope you enlighten yourself in the identity of Kerala politics in religious & cultural aspects.

Harry, try the Sri Lankan omelette - it's similar to the Indian one your are eating. Mix 2 eggs with lots of chopped onions, curry leaves and green chillies (if you find green chillies very hot, just remove the inside part with the seeds and it won't be that spicy then), add little salt and chilli powder. Beat them together and fry the usual way.

Normally as a thumb rule in India food quality and taste is many times better when you eat at a crowded or popular eating joint , empty eating places during peak eating hours are normally indicative of poor food quality or taste , also mango and pickle quantity in every bite has to be very small else its very overwhelming.

From mumbai, you should have gone to neighboring Goa where you can speak hindi, then karnataka, where again many understand hindi, then to andhra pradesh and telangana where many speak urdu and hindi, then to kerala where also some speak hindi. In that way you could have slowly transitioned and learned new languages quickly as that geographical areas (states) are neighbouring to each other and it would have given you proper idea of the landscapes, climate, cuisine, culture, topographic changes in smooth way. And will help to understand India in more detailed way.

He worked in Odisha for leprosy eradication of poor people and established a leprosy home at Baripada( district headquarter of Mayurbhanj district). Also he taught locals how to use sabai grass( Eulaliopsis binata) for economical purposes. He could even speak odia fluently. For the dark incident The Odisha High Court in 2005 sentenced the convicted ringleader of the mob, Dara Singh for life imprisonment. Graham's wife was awarded the fourth highest honor a civilian can receive in India, the Padma Shree, in recognition for her work in Odisha. India is a secular nation and we don't have any hatred to other religions. We treat every religion equally.

@@jeffogenre9890 That was a dark part in the history of the state. I condemn for that mishap. But if you see now situations have changed completely. We worship guest as our god ( Atithi Devo Bhava) and it has been practiced from the past. Odisha is beautiful state with rich culture, traditions, diverse ethnicity, fabulous architecture and monuments... State has every thing to be a top tourist destination. Every year thousands of foreigners visit the state. Also the there is no reason for your hatred towards the common people of the state for such a incident. Even though there were violence against Indians in Australia and there was murder of two Indians in 2010 one in New South Wales and other in Melbourne. This issue was sorted by cooperation between the government of two nations. We don't have hatred towards australians. For Graham Staines murder the convicted got his punishment. Now we should move forward building better cultural relations between the two nation. My Friend you should leave the hate you have towards us and you should come to Odisha. To see how it has transformed itself from the dark past. My friend you have to come to Odisha only then you can see the truth and the present scenario. It's a wonderful place having richness in every sphere... Friend let's forget the past and now come to Odisha. The state is calling you and waiting for you to welcome you and serve you. Brother come to Odisha...🙂😇
