4:32 Fel, a gentle reminder it is considered 'rude' and 'impolite' to dip chopsticks with rice into sharing dishes. The rice residue inside the dish will shortened the shelf life of the dish. Aside from that, keep up with your good work ! Love hearing your conversations with the locals.

Its one thing to be welcomed as a stranger snooping around deep in the village😂 but to immediately be invited in for food, thats another level of hospitality. However I have a feeling that the fact that you speak Chinese very well has a lot to do with that. So you've more than earned the treatment. What a lovely lady!!!

@timurkral3781 not really. This is Chinese culture. It's not like here in the West where we move onto a new topic each time and get offended or annoyed when asked the same questions again and again. In China it's more like you'll be asked the same thing a few times as a way of expressing your feeling. For example let's say you got a girlfriend, they'll talk about that multiple times in a short time frame. Like "Oh she is so pretty" as a side comment if that makes sense. So they are talking without giving it much deep thought, it's an accompanying point to show their emotion. If you go to China and see hospitable people, you'll find people say "chi la" as in "eat" multiple times.

The reason why one of the first things Chinese people (generally older) asks guests if they've eaten yet is because China went through famine and starvation for a period of time decades ago. Bro I just went to China for the first time 2 weeks ago and came back to New Zealand last week and the hospitality there for people who look like us (I'm Fijian) is insane, like I feel more like a human in China than I do in New Zealand, especially when I'm in the white areas. In China, they treat you like a human, and it seems like it's the case for all of China. They're aren't divided about skin color, race, religious differences, gender, pro nouns, and politics unlike the west which explains why they've become so much more advanced than the west. We can take a lot of notes from the Chinese people. I have Chinese bloodline from my great grand father so I just feel a deeper sense of loyalty for China at this point. The hospitality I received despite communication barrier is making me want to learn mandarin, and do business with the Chinese.

I've been studying Chinese philosophy for almost a year. And I'm pretty sure that all the love they have in them come from some of their ancient philosophies, especially Confucianism. Their virtue is based on treating others better then yourself, and only then would you be consider a human being. To be human, is to engage with love towards another, and only then you can become a human being and understand who you really are. It just shows us how much loveable Chinese people can be despite the still bad facade that we often and sadly sees from medias.

@@luthier78 yes, huge metropolitan cities are contaminated with Status, greeds and selfishness, unless you are in a real tight group of people, whom may help each other, even that, it is not like “Simple Villagers” especially in China. I love that even though his Chinese tonal pronunciation is not always perfect, he's got SO many of the little mannerisms of speech down. The many non verbal gestural sounds and more casual native phrases. I suspect it reflects how much he committed to learning Chinese by embedding himself in the culture rather than simply book-learning. I really respect that, as it shows a kind of respect to culture and language that's rare nowadays! Much love and respect from a Chinese brother!

I just love seeing more and more people break stereotypes. I grew up moving countries and was met with a lot of ignorance but also racism. Two different things and I think ignorance leads to people saying racist things, especially when they're angry or upset. But truly, they don't HATE us or them or whoever we're talking about. I was a brown man always in places where my people didn't exist. Maybe one other South American but never a Colombian. And I heard all the jokes. I lean into them now. Because I learned to not be offended. Especially in Colombia, they give you nicknames, tease you, joke around a lot, so you have to have thick skin or you get offended and hurt every day pretty much 😂. Anyway, thank you once again. So beautiful to see people try to be open and see it's ok and breaking their own perspectives and old ways of seeing things.

Racism is more common in the western culture. This is why these western media like to point finger at others because they project everyone is racist like them. To divide and conquer has been part of western colonial tool. People are not born racist. But the society make it ok to discriminate. Just like the little mermaid movie is trying to promote certain political correctness values. But I rather prefer a society promote values such as hard work and dedication than the skin color.
