They do run there.

I just saw her on Lake Superior back in December while I was an engineer on the S.S. Arthur M. Anderson.

WoW, very similar to a Great Lakes vessel in the USA.....which are over 1,000 ft long

Well, not to the 1000 footers as all but one of those have the wheelhouse at the back. But the 700-750 feet Welland-max size ships, yes.

I would not want to be an engineer on this ship - it`s a damned long walk from the accomodation to the engine room !

There's a reason they place the bridge and crew accommodations at the back of the ship on freighters.

@@integritytransport8762 So the entire crew can be in close proximity. Imagine working in engineering and having to walk all that distance to get to the bridge and crew accommodations (and back again) in bad weather, or having to go from the bridge/crew accommodations to the back of the the ship to get to the lifeboats in an emergency.

So crew accommodations and the engine room are on opposite ends of the ship? That would be pretty hazardous walking conditions in icy or rough seas. Also noticed that the life boat was at the stern of the ship. Not good.

you can get from the foreship to the aft without having to go onto the oudside. the side tanks have a void at the top with a pathway and sealable doors.

Such a beautiful ship but not quite an innovative design ships with that design have been sailing on the great lakes since 1900
