@MistaE

How do u do that cuz there isn't a line for the bearing to line itself straight first
That beats purchasing a press, and you made it look more straightforward on the car!

Dude my car has been down for a little. Passenger front had seized caliper toast cv shaft and worn out bearing. All that is left is the bearing. I was going back and forth about taking spindle in but will just buy beaing kit instead. Thanks for the motivation.

Lol, that was funny. I had never really thought about it like that or noticed.
Wow! The hub was actually in good condition. Most of the ones I did over the years were driven enough on a bad bearing to ruin the hub.
I have a similar kit (Astro). Definitely makes the job easier.

So grateful you show all the tools needed to make this easy, this job is definitely due on my CRX, so seeing this saves me a lot of headache and cussing
Just know anyone else will not do it this smooth. This person is a pro. My press will be here tomorrow. But im painting all my parts so the hydraulic made more sense for me. But yeah this video is on point.
super effective time wise, but it does put alot of side load on the bearings pressing in the hub without supporting the inner race can be risky, but works 80 % of the time.
I need this like now I have a job Sunday I would love to try this
Dude that's sweet! Done!
A slide hammer never budged my Ridgeline’s hub. Had to resort to my bearing press
Excellent job..
Great job.
Wish I had magic tools like u
@GarageBuiltHondas
Жыл бұрын
It's not magic, just buy some!
When you get the wheel spline off, you see the bearings. Because the race was inside, to reuse the spline that has the bearing race half on berried to the face. To get this off you cut both sides and it's chrome so you put a chisel in the cut line you made with the grinder hit with any hammer it will fall in half of the spline so you need more tools to replace and reuse your parts. Love gbh
Nice. Same wheel bearings used in a Polaris ranger.
How were you able to push the transaxle out of the bearing spot & back in without removing the whole assembly like other tutorials show?
That’s better then taking the whole knuckle off to press it out.
Wish my wheel be arming was that easy. I just ended up buying a new spindle
Need to do mine soon on my ej1 😅
Works great if there's no cv axel but I guess if there is you can just remove the control arm or some links to get it out. Definetly beats pulling it all out to press it out have u tried it on one that's rusty and siezed
I have same impact i love it
Add 378 slide hammer pulls for accuracy
@GarageBuiltHondas
10 ай бұрын
Lmao. It took about 10-15 for me.
If using an impact, its best to use it on the nut instead of the bolt.
VERI NICE
Damn, having the right tools is key
It took me the longest time to understand why these come apart in two pieces. It's all about that C clip, which can't be accessed once the hub is installed. The hub is a press fit into the inner bearing race, so very quickly it is seized to the inner race. When you pull the hub out, you're pulling from the center, putting unavoidable strain on the thin sheet metal of the bearing cage. So the bearing is always destroyed in the process (even if you forgot to install the C clip). Without that C clip, the whole wheel could fall off if the bearing walks off.
Wouldn't it be nice if the bearing bolted on?
waiting for the parts to do mine
Holy studs Batman
You forgot to forget the c clip and take it back apart to install it
And this is why we have homeless ASE certified Master mechanics

Any worries doing this with an impact? I feel like a wrench you get a better idea if it starts binding up. Also no grease on the spindle or new bearing surface?
@GarageBuiltHondas
6 ай бұрын
I've done a lot like this. I haven't had any issues and that's on the cars I race. The spindle doesn't require grease on it, it's a press fit, nor does the bearing. The bearing is internally lubed.
what is the tool he uses to push the actual bearing out?
Sería muy bueno que en la vida real fuera así de fácil y simple sacar el hub y el bearing. Para mi siempre a resultado más fácil sacar el hub con un buen mazo y un dado. Con esa herramienta del martillo que desliza nunca eh logrado sacarlo

@GarageBuiltHondas

That works too. But not for someone with limited budget. My concern (from experience) is that those aftermarket hubs have larger diameter wheels studs on the hub, not allowing me to use extended ARPs which I like to do on a lot of my personal cars.
is there a longer video? 🤣
I don’t know how you put the retainer ring with your bare hands
What is the slide hammer contacting on the hub to pull it out? I will be doing this job over the weekend with the tools you recommended but I want to try and reuse the hub like you did. Just slide it all the way to back and catch the edge? Won't damage it for reinstallation?
@GarageBuiltHondas

You'll need to grind the inner race of the bearing off from the hub. They always come out attached to the hub.
If the bearing is good, can we reuse the hub cap after opening like this?
