That’s a great idea! I’ve definitely had seeds not germinate for one reason or another more than once!

I'm just tired of having duds! All that time planting and no seedlings makes Robyn a very sad gardener.

@@bigbearhomestead I am testing seeds I saved from last year. especially interested in black eye peas planted last year from a bag of dried peas I bought from Wally World. I also have some old beans I had in a jar I used as decorations...those have to be at least 15 years old. we shall see🤗
When you mentioned the difficulty of putting the wet paper towel in the bag, I got to thinking. Something came to mind that I have used for other projects that might just work. Consider the thin round cotton makeup remover pads. Could easily have multiples in a large bag or less in smaller bag.

Yes that would definitely be an option. Good idea!
We have some Peach Sugar rush peppers sprouting now gonna make a peach sauce this year 🤞🏼I also ordered purple tomatoes, purple tomatillas, purple bell pepper seeds to make purple salsa with the purple cayenne Palmetto got! 😂

Sugar rush peach peppers are amazing! Never had any luck with "purple" tomatoes. But LOVE the purple peppers! Good luck with your garden goals this year!

Family has been a little under the weather, but hopefully we will all feel better soon. Dud seeds can be very frustrating. Hopefully this trick will help.

@@bigbearhomestead hope everyone gets to feeling better. I’m starting to feel a bit better myself.. I’m anxious to try your yogurt recipe!! Do you guys add sweetener or flavoring to yours?
Could you put the items in the bags dry, and wet them (maybe with a spray bottle or something of that sort) inside the bag, to make that part easier?

The reason you put the seeds on the napkin wet is so they don't move around. When I tried placing them in the bag and the napkin was still dry, they fell to the bottom of the bag.
Ok question. When you did the experiment in school, did anything actually work better than just normal fresh water?

It was over 30 years ago, but if I remember correctly, soda, sweet tea and then coffee in that order were better than plain water. The one I remember the most was beans. They thrived with a dose of caffeine and sugar.

@@bigbearhomestead That's really interesting, I always thought that caffeine was supposed to be bad for plants, but maybe just a hint at the very beginning might be good.
