I went out of town for 3 weeks and when I came back there were weeds everywhere in my flower beds and my garden areas. some of them more than 3 feet tall. I didn't know weeds could grow that fast. In the past I have hired landscapers to remove all my weeds in my flower and garden beds but I found they simply plucked the top off and the same weeds grew back in a few weeks.
The easiest way to remove weeds is by using auger drill bits. these are shockingly easy to use and I'll never go back to weeding with a hand shovel.

Be VERY careful with those and make sure you have the clutch set. I didn't a couple years ago and I broke my hand when the bit snagged a big root and the drill flung itself around.

I'm so glad you made this video... My gutt reaction was that for a second it was a crazy idea that somehow made perfect sense in theory, and oh my goodness did it work!!! I go nuts with spraying things but this definitely is making me reconsider how I attack certain areas in my yard. 👏👍 Thank you!

Had I not used it for planting i wouldn't have believed it either hahaha. I did all three areas in 40 minutes. super impressed. I like spray options but these weeds in 3-4 weeks were super established that I would have most likely got spray drift on all my plants. In the end I would have had to cut them all down after they started dying as well to throw them away. Thanks for the comment.

I use a different brand of auger but solely for planting (especially tomatoes) and never thought of using it this way. As @CantankerousDave mentioned these things will do a number on your wrist if you aren't careful. Also, your drill will let the smoke out if you overwork it or hit a lot of rocks or thick roots (ask me how I know).

Have you ever considered composting? If you had some kind of shredder you can run all that through there and use it as a mulch. I'm learning a lot of weeds with deep roots like you have are bringing the good nutrients up from deep down. I noticed a lot of those had seeds so I'm betting you're going to have a problem next year too. The deep root plants pre emergent don't really work good vs them, at least thats been my experience But I really like this tip, no pun intended 😊 thanks ginga

@@michaelfitch460 have you ever heard people say leaves are not good when they're clumped up and big? It can cause problems when they do that especially when you get heavy with it . I imagine they are thinking weeds would be the same way. Which they might be right, however running it through a chipper/shredder fixes that problem. However before I started using weeds I always disposed of them on my property line and just threw them on the ground on unused wooded area. when I come back to those areas I noticed they would always be nice and healthy-looking.. matter of fact from doing it for a few years Ii made some rich soil that I took back to my gardens ha. By the way I went to my geo bin compost bin and harvested it and it was so rich looking. Think I'm going to have some nice healthy plants next season 😎
