    I love how enthusiastic Austin is. Please convince him to post more on his channel again. I definitely want to learn more about these one handed throws that you said he's into, both no-gi and gi. I know in the last video he talked a bit about how he likes to operate from the whizzer.

    I swear I've seen competitive judokas in matches some times just "shake their arm/collar" as if their gi was feeling annoying. Now I know, thanks.

    Only one way to find out. Play with it! You may discover something. BJJ gis are more contoured so it will be different. But it’s still a gi, so there probably is some way of applying the technique.

    Really clever. Classic example where "Old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance". Well, maybe not always, but you increase your odds.

    As a blind judo player, I start gripped up with my opponent this gives me an equal opportunity to throw and find my opponent, but it is often the quickest to start the throw wins. What advice would you give such as should I quickly move to my left or go straight in for a throw?

    Sensei Shintaro quick question. How high should I keep my hands?

  • @corazon8255

    Ok I need some advice. Now I got some experience in Jiu Jitsu, now starting a Judo only class. We were asked to pin our partner, and I tried to mount them, but they crossed their legs and held my right leg as I was about to mount. I don't know what it was called or how to counter it, but it didn't seem to count as a pinning technique. They didn't win but they held me there till our time limit was up. If you could give me some insight I'd appreciate it. (Sorry for bad grammar)

    Half guard is not considered a pin in Judo. There is an art to passing it or retaining it, it's a lot for youtube comments. Look up half guard techniques and ask your instructor in person.

  • @VTdarkangel

    @VTdarkangel

    You're asking the wrong question. Any throw will work. You should be thinking about how to get grips either in response to or to prevent such a punch. You'll never throw someone while they're punching if they know what they're doing.

  • @VTdarkangel

    @VTdarkangel

    @HR-eh1hb you still want to figure out how to get grips in a way to protect yourself. In the case of mma, it's probably going to be a clinch of some sort since there is no gi. I'd practice getting clinches off of punches. Then, from those clinches, I'd practice throws. An example would be to cover up and shoot in for a front clinch. From there, get a tight underhook on an arm and shoot an uchi mata. There are several options, but they're all contingent on safely getting a clinch.
