Easy Stuart S50 steam engine build from castings, Part 1

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this series I try and show you with a bit of thought easy ways to build this little engine.
This is the first of a series of videos showing the building of a Stuart S50 mill engine model, the full size versions were widely used in the mills in the North of England. The kit was a Birthday gift from my Dad a few years ago and has been sat on a shelf since. I was looking for a chill out project, one to help me shut off for a few hours of an evening, so what better? I have not built a S50 before so if you have any tips or advice please let me know to help others not to fall into any traps. I'm hoping to build this using the parts from the kit (except the odd brass bush) not replacing everything as I go, also I'm filming this hoping that you have some basic knowledge and skill, it would make a long video to film every detail but don't worry if you don't understand anything please just ask. Thanks for watching and I hope this series helps you to build a beautiful mill engine.

Nice videos. Can you do this machining for me and how much will this cost?

Thanks a lot, before I get into any details have you checked out stuartmodels.com? They have for sale machined kits for home building or fully finished engines, let me know what you think, cheers

Just got around to ordering that set of castings but being in the US I have no idea when they will get here. I did not prime my last castings till machined but may try your approach.

Have fun making, I'm sure they won't take long. The paint helps with making out but keeps oil from getting into the cast so easier at the painting stage, good luck.

@@mattsbitsnbobsworkshop I did get my casting quickly but they have to send me a new flywheel because part of it did not even full the mold!

@@gvet47 That's great (about the speed) They are human, odd things may get missed but the after sales service is brilliant and I,m sure that will be quick. Let me know how the build goes cheers.
