EASY STEPS FOR UPDATING YOUR IMPORTER EXPORTER CODE OR IEC USING THE DGFT WEBSITE: Hello I am VAHIE, the DGFT virtual assistant for helping importers and exporters. In this quick video I will explain the easy steps for updating your Importer Exporter code or IEC using the DGFT Website. As per the recent DGFT Notification number 58 dated 12th February 2021, any Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) Holder is required to update their IEC electronically every year, during the period of April-June. While this updation is mandatory, due consideration has been taken not to increase any compliance burden. It may be noted that IEC updation is online and automated. This updation process should not take more than 30 minutes. Further, there are no user charges to be paid for such IEC updations. Please follow the steps mentioned in this brief video for easy guidance on updating your IEC details through the automatic DGFT Online process. Steps for Updating the IEC: 1. Navigate to the DGFT website 2. Please register on the Website if not registered already. 3. Please link your IEC to your account using any of the authentication options provided. For more details on the authentication process, refer to the video here. Link IEC using DSC : kzread.info/dash/bejne/oGl3qNWIocW7lMY.html Link IEC using Aadhar e-Sign : kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYGgwcGKkqfbptY.html 4. Once the IEC is linked to your profile, please navigate to start fresh application by clicking on Update / Modify IEC button on your dashboard. 5. Please validate all the details present in the screen presented. Please update details wherever required. 6. In case your email address or your mobile number is not updated please do update them. 7. In case the email or mobile number was verified more than 1 year back, new OTPs would be sent to the given contact details for re-verification. 8. Please go through each screen and ensure that all details are correctly updated. 9. A submission for updation of IEC shall be auto-approved. You may generate a copy of your updated IEC by using the Print IEC feature on the dashboard page. 10. In case PAN details on the IEC are being modified, the IEC updation shall not be automatic. The electronic submission shall be automatically sent to concerned Regional Authority of DGFT for further examination and suitable approval. 11. Status of any submissions can be viewed by navigating to My Dashboard Choosing type of scheme as “IEC” and Sub-scheme as “Modification of IEC”. Important Points to Note 1. DGFT shall be sending regular reminders to all IEC holders to update their IEC. 2. If the IEC holder fails to update their IEC before end of the Month of June, the IEC shall be de-activated and export / import transaction cannot be taken up against the given IEC. 3. However, if the IEC holder wishes to re-activate the IEC, applicant may use the steps mentioned for updation of the IEC. IEC shall be re-activated on successful updation. 4. If IEC was updated in last 365 days before June, then there is no need to update the IEC details again in this April to June period. 5. Objective of the given exercise is to prune out inactive IECs and incorrect IEC details. The support of all active IEC holders for this limited updation is kindly solicited. Sir, I am a Pvt.Ltd Company, I am not a Regular Exporter and Importer. While registering Update my Director's DSC as a step to update my IEC , the system showing the following message "PAN Number in DSC doesn't match with any of the Member/Director/Partner of the IEC''

By entering CIN/LLPIN number it supposed to fetch the directors/ partners details, but it's not updating. Unable to delete Previous directors details

It means, if I have done updation between 01/07/2020 and 31/03/2021, then there is no need to update again this year. Please confirm this.

Yes. The updation is not mandatory in cases where the IEC was already updated in the previous 365 days. The updation is not mandatory for any new IECS issued in this period

Trying to update IEC but the Firm Name field is greyed out so it does not let me enter it, neither does it let me submit the form as the firm name is mandatory. Any help appreciated!

Thanks. I had gotten a change in IEC for address details in Nov 2021. Now the company is asking to update again and taking full fee 2000 again if any changes or 1770 if no changes.. Estartup India is that company. If there are no charges, then for a 2 minute process such fees is charged just because we dont know exact process or cant take out litte time.

The IEC is auto-updated in real-time on submission of application, except in specific cases where there in a change in PAN, nature of entity or partner details. You can download the updated IEC by logging into your dashboard on the DGFT Website --> My IEC --> Print IEC

We had forgotten the username ie, the mail id that is given so we had re registered using new mail id and mobile number , but we cannot link the IEC it's showing error msg as partner pan is not present .What is the solution?

We too hav the same problem.. But i hav a doubt that, if we register with new mail id & phn no, whether we get new iec code? We have to update the old one...

Your IEC code will be suspended in system if you will not update the same every year between April-June.

PAN & AADDHAR names do not match. why not use only PAN to update IEC. In PAN, the intials / surname has to be expanded compulsorily. Whereas in Aadhar, the intials / surname need not have to be expanded. Because of this, IEC update is not happening. I am getting a error message that names in PAN & Aadhar are not matching. For linking PAN & Aadhar in Income Tax portal, the same is accepted. Because of this, items will not get cleared in the customs. Please do the needful for these type of cases. Thanks.

Dear Sir/Madam. I have a query, IEC taken during 1997. In View IEC, directors' names are displaying however PAN column looks nil. I am trying to link the IEC with the KYC of the directors whom names are displaying, an error that says PAN available on site is not matching. Please help how to proceed!

Please log into the DGFT website, initiate the 'Update IEC' process, ensure all details as mentioned on the specific IEC Screens are correct and simply submit the application after validation.
