Rainier was made with our Pearlescent Fingering yarn. This yarn is a dreamy, luxurious, creamy, fingering weight yarn that’s ideal for next-to-skin accessories like cowls, shawls, scarves, hats, and much more! It’s a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Mulberry Silk that’s unbelievably soft with a lovely drape and a shine that just won’t quit! When you combine these two fibers into a single-ply yarn, you get subtle differences in tone, and the colors truly appear iridescent and other-worldly! 550 yds/503 m per skein.
The sample shown here was made with our Devoted Hues Pearlescent Fingering kit. The sample used approximately 940 yds/860 m total: (A) 230 yds/ 210 m, (B) 445 yds/407 m, and (C) 265 yds/242 m.

Lived in the Great NW for 25 years. Blessed to see the Mountain (Rainier) on a regular basis when clouds didn't cover. One of the most beautiful places on earth, and where I learned to knit.

I was born in Seattle and my mother's family is all still living in towns around there. My mom and her 9 brother and sisters all grew up saying "The mountain is out!" whenever Mt. Rainier wasn't covered in clouds. It's a mountain with such a beautiful, large presence.

I LOVE Mt Rainier. Went camping there... a little over 9 years ago. My nephew got so sick so we had to go back to my sister's house in Marysville after just one night, and I spent the next week taking care of the kids while my sister and her husband were also sick. Not a fun vacation, but I've been back several times since! My bf and I have thought about moving up there ourselves even though that sister now lives with me in Utah. I have another sister who lives just outside downtown Seattle, and my bf was born in Tacoma (though his dad was military, and they moved shortly afterward). Taking a ferry across the Puget Sound while wrapped in a cozy knit is so much fun!

My late husband and I lived in Lakewood below Tacoma, Washington Years ago. I too fell in love with the area! My husband Eneo was building a Liquefaction plant for the Government in Ft Lewis. We lived there from April to November and experienced the often changing weather! We made good use of the time by visiting Mt Rainer often. The city of Seattle, the Islands in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the beautiful Olympic Peninsula, the salmon hatcheries all were close by and we enjoyed every one of them frequently! The memory of the beautiful Pacific Northwest stayed with me so long that when we were ready to retire my husband asked me where I wanted to go for my last trip? I was a Travel Agent and he traveled for his work so the whole world was open for me! I didn’t have to think long , I said Orcas Hotel on Orcas Island in the Strait Juan de Fuca. When we originally did the ferry trip I remember that one of the Islands a Nun with all her robes and beads opened the ferry gate! Just a few months ago I was reading a book by a Northwestern author and she mentioned the Nun opening the ferry gate! I am 93:year old now and have beautiful memories of trips all over the world but our Pacific Northwest is still at the top! L

That is so pretty. I have visited. Back in 1994 a friend of mine moved back to Washington and as my Christmas present, flew me out there for a week to spend Christmas with her and her kids. She lived on Whidbey Island. We kept hoping for snow, at least a little but it was overcast and slightly rainy. The DAY I LEFT, it started snowing about an hour after I was flying back and they ended up with like 8 inches or more...typical, lol. Thanks another pretty pattern!

I've been to Seattle, Eugene, and Portland for conferences, but never got out of the cities. We did catch a glimpse of Rainier from the Space Needle. In Oregon, Mt. Hood is closer to Portland than Rainier is to Seattle, so we got good views of that. All of those cities were great places to visit even though we weren't able to visit the natural areas beyond the urban environment.

I grew up with Mt Rainier as my view from my bedroom window. I now live on the other side of the bridge with Olympics as my view from my office. But Rainier has my heart. I actually have large photo of it in my bedroom. Driving across the Narrows Bridge at twilight when the mountain is out is one of my favorite things in the world. My Friday knitting group meets in Gig Harbor. We have a view of the sound and the mountain as we knit and chat. I have loads of Pearlescent Fingering in my stash so I don’t need to win the yarn. I love that I get to have fun deciding what to pull from my stash to make this and learn a new technique as well.

When I was in British Columbia we drove to visit Seattle. What a gorgeous shawl pattern. I am going to try to figure out how to crochet a version of it. Have a great day Chandi 🎉

I have visited the Pacific Northwest and have even climbed partway up Mt. Ranier. It was the most awesome mountain I have seen, near or from afar. I love your yarn and your patterns. Thank you.

Beautiful! I lived in British Columbia, Canada for 15 years. On a clear day, I could see Mt Rainier from my kitchen window! The Pacific Northwest is a peaceful, serene and magical corner of a troubled world.

Oops! It was Mt Baker and not Mt Rainier that I could see. Both beautiful dormant volcanoes !

Thank you for this beautiful pattern! I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. When the Seattle rain clouds lift I am blessed with an amazing view of Mount Rainier. In addition to living in its shadow, Mount Rainier holds many happy memories of camping with family and friends. Such a beautiful pattern for an awe inspiring mountain!

I was so pleased to hear of a shawl named after Mt. Rainer! It is beautiful. I lived in Kent, Washington for about 25 yrs before I moved back to N.C. my home state. You are so correct about that being a beautiful state and I miss it. When my kids and I would go to store or to catch a bus we walked up a small incline and there we saw Mt. Rainer everyday such a beautiful blessing. I love the colors you chosen.

Visited Seattle for the first time a few years ago to catch a cruise to Alaska. We even stopped in Canada on the way back. Something about the states up north on either coast have a serene beauty to them.

I don't actually need the yarn at this time, but I did have to share that I love the PNW...I moved to Portland from NYC when 9/11 happened. I took the summer off, enjoyed a beautiful Portland summer. This is actually where I truly learned knitting and crochet. I went to the library and got the magazines and books and taught myself that way. In my mind, I knew how to do it because I learned as a kid, but I never really did anything with it. It really saved my sanity after 9/11...I NEEDED to do creative stuff. (I also taught myself how to cook) so all these years later, I feel like I'm a little better, but I make sure I do at least one row a day! I then spent the winter up in Seattle. That was also beautiful. Also it turns out that I accidentally found my favorite paint color (back on the East Coast!) Called Mt Rainier from Benjamin Moore. I just liked it for my office but learned the name of the color later. Thank you for listening to my story 😂

On a clear day you could just see the top of Rainer from my last apartment in Portland, and after I moved to Seattle, I became very familiar with “The mountain is out!”
