Alright, little one, imagine you have a magical lemon, and we're going to do a fun experiment with it! First, let's talk about what happens when you put a lemon in regular water. The lemon is a bit heavy, so when you put it in the water, it sinks to the bottom, right? That's because the lemon is denser than the water, which means it's heavier than the same amount of water. Now, let's pretend we have a special water made of tiny, invisible salt particles. When we add salt to the water, it becomes something called "saltwater." Saltwater is a bit different from regular water because it has something extra in it-the salt! Here's where the magic happens: When we place the lemon in the saltwater, something fascinating occurs! The saltwater tries to hold up the lemon, like a magical invisible force is trying to make the lemon float. Why does this happen? It's because the saltwater becomes a bit denser than the lemon. It's like the saltwater becomes stronger and can hold up the lemon. So, instead of the lemon sinking to the bottom like it did in regular water, it floats happily on top of the saltwater! It's like the lemon is dancing and floating on the surface, thanks to the special powers of the saltwater. Isn't that amazing? With a little bit of salt, we can make the lemon float and have a magical time! Just remember, the saltwater is a bit different from regular water, and that's why the lemon can float on top like magic. Science is full of surprises, and it's so much fun to explore and learn together! 🍋💧🌊

Can you add real life examples that kids can relate to....so they understand why saltwater is peculiar... thanks

Sure! A real-life example of something floating in saltwater is the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is a famous saltwater lake located between Israel and Jordan. It's one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, with a salinity level about ten times higher than that of regular seawater. Because of this extremely high salt concentration, the water in the Dead Sea is much denser than a human body. As a result, when people go swimming or even just wade into the Dead Sea, they experience something extraordinary-they float effortlessly on the surface of the water! It's like a natural floating adventure! You don't need to be a strong swimmer to stay afloat in the Dead Sea because the high salt content provides that magical buoyancy. This unique feature makes it a popular tourist destination, where people can have fun splashing around in the water while effortlessly floating on their backs like they're relaxing on a comfortable air mattress. So, just like the lemon floating in saltwater in our previous example, the human body can float in the salty waters of the Dead Sea because of the special powers of the salt! It's a fantastic real-life demonstration of the principles we talked about earlier.

Please can you explain
When salt is dissolved in water, as it is in ocean water, that dissolved salt adds to the mass of the water and makes the water denser than it would be without salt. Therefore due to increase in density of fluid, upward Buoyant force will increase due to which object will float better in salt water. I wish it helps pls stop bad comment

A beautiful and enlightening experiment.
the lemon floating on saltwater demonstrates the concept of buoyancy and density, specific quantitative measurements and calculations would be necessary for most practical applications. 1. Oceanography and marine research: Scientists studying the ocean can measure the density of seawater at different depths and locations. By understanding the density variations, they can gain insights into water circulation patterns, salinity changes, and the distribution of marine organisms. 2. Material science: Density measurements can help researchers analyze and compare the properties of different materials. By understanding the density of substances, they can study their composition, structure, and behavior, leading to advancements in materials engineering and manufacturing processes.

@KD-ku9rk Good question... I will try it later this evening (Happy New Year)
It is simple.. When the salt is placed in water it increases the density of water so the weight of the water is more than the fruit and hence it floats..
Salt atoms fill the vacant space between water molecules . as salt dissolve in water density of water get increased and lemon starts floating .

You are my BFF 💝🤩🎉❤
It's like the same that you float in The Dead Sea because it's almost 70% salt
If you leave on a red cloth table lamp with a regular kind of bulb in the bedroom and an oval tubular vintage bulbed desk lamp on in the office next door. There's 1 lamp in each room. You wait to see which type of bulb burns out first, how long it takes and why. Would you consider this example to be doing a type of experiment?
Thanks you so much..

Because your putting 1 Drink of tap water and 5 taps of sea salt, you make it evenly buoyant meaning that the lemon floats because there is no other area.
Thank you for this
It's just like the dead sea 😊
Please could you explain why the lemon is floating on the water

wow
AMAZING
On adding salt, the water becomes more dense by the solute ions of NaCl forming a conc solution .
Lemon floats because water becomes more dense when enough salt is added to it.
Amazing good for children ❤❤❤

can u give a fun title for this project? TY!

dead sea model
When we keep adding salt to the water, the water becomes thicker and hence the lemon floats.
It’s simple it’s like the dead ocean

Incredible
O nice dxt aaha
Wow so cool 😊
We should test out what will happen if we Mix water with ocean water
Ya wanna know how I already knew that? 😃 STRANGER THINGS 😭👍
It is density, if something floats in water it has less density than water but if it sinks it has more density than water. Salt will add more density to the water making the lemon float
Density ka chakkar babu bhaiya🤭
i did it and it floated even in normal water

THANKS BRO
Archemedes be like : 😎😎
Due to salty water is more dense as compare to fresh water.
Because, water becomes thicker and denser on adding salt. That's why it float.
Same logic as the dead sea
It also floats in sugar solution. Its name is density
It is really good
True I hava try I live it
Wow 🤩
We learned that when is was in 4th grade
Water's density increases after adding salt
I learned this in prep
It is done by the process of hypertonic solution
Great ❤😊
Wow!
probably because the salt dissolves in the water making it denser than the lemon
Nice
In this experiment density works

Salt water bro that's why people can swim and float a lot easier. Because we are all made of liquids🎉
I’m guessing it’s something with density
I think I have some sort of explanation Basically:before adding the salt, the water was less dense than the lemon. Which made it sink. But when we add salt to the water and mix it, the water becomes more dense. Making the lemon float
So cool🎉
Due to density😅😅
Very cool i will try it
