    Being a melanated woman is liberating.. I am the one who control the images and the words that I will take in and receive as my identity. I will not fight for what is divinely given to me. I will not ask to be accepted. I will not be exhausted for simply being...

    21:06 walking is my thing. I’ve even got many others in my neighborhood walking because they see me walking everyday. My husband asked why don't I speed walk and I try to explain to him I don’t walk to lose weight. I walk to relax...

    My sanctuary even when I had a job was my car . I never had lunch with my co workers because my workplace was toxic . I went to my car turned on music ate my lunch and laid back . I agree that it’s not healthy to always be plugged into the internet . Exchanging and judging one another and giving criticism on peoples lives and bodies and minds . Overwhelmed me . I never put my kids pics online and gradually I took myself off social media platforms since I wasn’t a good user . I wasn’t into the “show”. My hobby now is gardening . My focus is healing too . I start my day slow . I set my phone on do not disturb until a set time .

    12:08 That song there... but in the version I sang, I would always say ‘I’ll try not to complain’...I pride myself on being transparent, and sometimes I am gonna complain,... but people take a complaint as weakness, so they would rather you suck it up, and keep it movin, but that’s why there is so much unaddressed emotions that just fester, because there’s not many safe places to let it out. It’s like everyone is hurting and if we all just let people talk about what’s bothering them (complaining) we would all be much better off...

  • @AleciaRenece

    @AleciaRenece

    2 жыл бұрын

    Exactly. It takes strength to be vulnerable enough to complain, to really express how you feel. And venting sessions, crying sessions heal us. When we hold in all of that pain, frustration, etc. Our body suffers, our minds suffer. We slowly "unalive" ourselves. We were never meant to carry such heavy weight. We were meant to unload them.

    25:04 I look around and see everyone is, well seems like they are able to be positive in the face of anything (I don’t really think they are, I think most people front). I refuse to front I tell people exactly how I’m doing, but when I’m truthful about my feelings, people say I’m negative... then it’s followed up by that cliché saying when you start thinking positive, positive things will happen. That then makes it my own fault for feeling how I feel. Because I can’t just change how I feel about certain things and others clearly can, it leaves me feeling broken. Like something is just wrong with me cause I can’t see the silver lining...

    @Kadlac Dixon absolutely. I've been treated that way as well. As if my being hurt or upset (by things that should be upsetting) is an inconvenience to other folks. That's super hurtful. But yes. Your feelings are VALID. All of them. The anger, hurt, pain, numbness... All of it. 💛🌻🌺🤗

    Community care can be tricky to navigate sometimes. I've noticed that some people lean way too hard into community care which essentially puts a lot of stress and pressure on the more grounded community members who are considered the "rocks". I encourage people to put more effort into doing their self work before running to community to do the work for them. I think it really needs to start with self, the support of God, ancestors, guides on the spirit side before we lean too hard on other humans for support. Many of us are going through a lot. We can't expect others to carry our load. But I agree with everything you said.

    These are great tips for single black women with no kids, husband or extra tasks on their plates but for moms of younger children, single mothers, women who are married with kids and women who work outside the home as well as dealing with their families once they get home from that stressful job, some of these tips might not be efficient for them. However, there are other women on KZread that can give other ways to do self care when you have added stressors such as children, husband, work, etc. Great video.

    Thank you for sharing. I am definitely in a different boat than a lot of folks. Though I am married, I don't have any children and my list would probably include different things if I did. 💛 I understand that perspective. Hopefully mom's can still take something out of this. Even if it's setting boundaries with children and spouses. 💛💛💛 Maybe I can ask moms what they do to care for themselves.

    @@AleciaRenece I agree. I have looked at videos on KZread of stay at home mom as well as working mom self care tips so, most are similar but with added restrictions and limited amount of time most mothers have to take for themselves depending on economic conditions(i.e. wealth) compared to us paycheck to paycheck moms who aim for the most economical efficient methods of selfcare tips and/or tricks.

    “Being a black woman in America is so exhausting” While you sit in the middle of a park recording your perspective on a camera. Alone. At peace. Not being harassed. Disrespected. Told to leave. Sounds really exhausting to me.

    ... So lemme get this straight. Me seeking solace and peace in nature to heal and be means I'm not exhausted...? Your comment alone is exhausting. Here I am sharing tips on self care for Black WOMEN and here comes a random troll discounting my experience and the experience of so many Black women (read the comments. Read the room)... Like you. See how that works? Your logic is not logical, Sir... Also... Why are you so triggered by my statement? Why do you feel entitled to comment on MY work when it has NOTHING to do with you? See how exhausting that is? See how you literally attempted to suck the life out of a well meaning video? See how you harrass me? The irony. See how your presence, words and intentions can literally cause harm? You literally represent the men I'm talking about. Women share their experiences and here you come, literally DRAINING. The audacity. It's weird. Go away. If you don't resonate with it, then leave. It's that simple. But no, you have to make it known that you're not pleased with the work of Black women. The jokes write themselves. Here I am at peace, and here you come disturbing it... You don't see how the jokes write themselves? You are literally disturbing my peace. Seek help.
