Easy NO PEEL, NO SUGAR ADDED Applesauce for a crockpot or Instant Pot
Apple Season is here! We like to can as much applesauce as possible to enjoy all year round! We will explain why it's so important to leave those apple skins on and how we make it with no added sweeteners!
Note: I just learned that apparently you can use a apple corer, slicer, peeler with a no peel option! :)

Great video - this is exactly what I do! I leave mine chunky, like your mom does, just using the immersion blender. No waste and no added sugar. The peeler/corer device never worked well for me with our smaller, misshapen and often wormy apples, so that's how I developed this method - only put in the crockpot the parts I want to eat. 😋🤗 Best to you! ❤

Awesome Marie! So glad it worked and enjoy that applesauce!
If you put lemon juice on them do they not get as brown? or are they brown because of the peel mixed in? What is the white stuff you sprinkled on?

I add cinnamon which gives them the darker color. I also sprinkle in a bit of salt - you could omit this if you want!
I kept some of my peels and used the rest for ACV.

20 mins. That was my guess too. Thank you, friend. (tTt)
When you pressure can what amount of headspace do you use and what processing times do you find work best for pints and quarts?

I leave at least a 1/2 inch of headspace and process 8 minutes for a pint and 10 minutes for a quart. Thanks for watching!
How should you clean the apples before cooking?

Honestly, we always get unsprayed, organic apples from sources that we know so I usually don't worry about washing them. Just like the produce in our own yard. If it was from another source that I wasn't sure about, I'd probably soak them in water with a bit of vinegar. Thanks for watching!
Can you freeze the apple sauce and thaw it when you want to use it? Also, can you use frozen apples to make the sauce?

Good questions! To be completely honest, I haven't tried either. I'm not sure what the resulting texture of a frozen apple is like. Let us know if you try it!
Do you water bath can your sauce, if so how long?

I normally pressure can but I believe water bath is for 20 min! Thanks for watching!
How long does the Apple sauce last in the jars in the fridge?

I'd store it in the fridge for up to a week. Thanks for watching!
How long do you process your applesauce?

Until it’s your desired texture. We like it really smooth and creamy with no peel so I go a little bit longer, maybe a minute in the vitamin. But if you like it chunkier you could go less. Thanks for watching!
How many apple per how much salt and cinnamon? I’m sorry I wish my brain work in a way that I would just know, but it doesn’t 🤦🏼♀️

Ha! I understand 🙃. Just a sprinkle of salt (or omit altogether). Cinnamon, I’d say 1-3 tsp depending on how cinnamony you like it and how many apples you are using. Probably not the answer you were looking for but I promise you can’t mess it up. I’ve even left both cinnamon and salt out and it was delicious!
And, how long in the water bath, please. Thank you.

I believe it's 20 minutes in the waterbath.
How much salt do you use?

Not much! Just a dash. You could also omit.
Must the core be taken out???

I do core it, I guess you wouldn't have to if you have a powerful blender but I don't think the seeds are great for you.

I don't core mine, but run them through the food mill instead of using the immersion blender.

Apple seeds are very bad for you (in large quantities). And so are seeds of cherries, apricots and peaches. So please avoid it if you can. People long ago used to use apple seeds to poison others. ❤
But the canning process kills some of the nutrients. Freezing is better.

If you have the space, freezing is great!

Please tell me why you're using a knife like that in a sawing motion? I've worked as a butcher for a long time please for the love of your fingers learn to use a knife properly. Sawing action with a knife made for slicing is asking to hurt yourself.
