The view in GarageBand makes it look like you are clipping but I am just below the clip line. If you load a mastered file into GarageBand it will look the same

Can you do a video making the EQ of an acoustic guitar miced to sound like the EQ and spread of the guitar in “This Damn Song” by Pecos and the Rooftops. I get so close with the sound and it’s so unique but I just can’t quite nail the compression on the low end and such a wide stereo spread but I feel like it’s such an applicable thing for producers

Hey yeah I can add that one to the list for sure! I just listened to the song. How they are acheiving this effect is two acoustic guitars each recorded with one microphone. They pan one guitar hard left and one hard right. And then they have slightly more high end in the right guitar. The guitars performances are recorded so well and played so tight that it sounds almost like one guitar but it is definitely two.

@@CellarDoorSound cool can't wait to see it! That's exactly what I've done with the panning with this recording I just can't get that compressed low end quite so tight but still that boominess and openess if that makes sense. Thank you for the help and can't wait to see this beneficial tutorial. Keep them up they're amazing and helpful!

  • @CellarDoorSound

That red you see in the master track isn't actually clipping. That is almost at the limit of what that meter will give you. It does the same thing if you bring a mastered track inside of garageband and just play it. You can do this yourself by seeing what happens when you turn all tracks up to their max which you will see there is much more red showing at the top of the meter. As soon as you through a limiter on, you will see about half of the red. Hopefully that makes sense and thanks for the question!
