    Great job! Over the last 40 yrs of studying the bible, the number one thing I've learned is to ask God the Holy Spirit to be your teacher. He knows how to teach and how to explain it to you so you'll understand. Always open with prayer - always!!

    Faith, I wanted to leave a comment from my heart here. I grew up in the Southern Baptist Convention. My dad was an ordained deacon and was later ordained as a pastor. I used to love the Bible. I was always a "nerd" and a "bookworm", so Bible study was something I naturally gravitated toward. But as I got older, had a family, got more involved in church and, sadly, abused in church I grew cold and distant from my Christian faith. Instead of enjoying reading my Bible, I began dreading it. Then I stopped reading it. Then I only picked it up to find evidence that poked bigger holes in my faith. I backslid into New Age occult, then atheism then total antitheism. I was not only an unbeliever, I was so angry and bitter that I was hostile toward Christianity and Christians. But recently the Holy Spirit nudged me back. I don't think it was by accident the KZread algorithm threw one of your videos into my suggested videos feed. Your enthusiasm for the Word has stoked that little ember in my heart that was once a massive fire. I find myself waking up every day excited to study the Bible. I'm so thankful to the Lord for your channel❤

    I know this comment was directed at Faith but I’m so happy for you… I was born again last year after a very lukewarm /cultural Christian upbringing and I feel like a kid in a candy store much of the time whilst I learn (also a nerd here 🤓). I’m so happy for you that you are becoming reacquainted with the Lord! 🎉

    Honestly Faith your page is so refreshing and inspiring! I was like "I GET ITTTT" since I also went to Bible school and got my degree in theology and I'm like "I know nothing... the more I study the Bible the more there is to study 😂". I love how you share your bible school knowledge with SUCH passion and realness! So excited for my own future scrolling on your channel😂 much love in Christ❤

    In studying the Old Testament it helps to use commentaries from the Jewish perspective as the Rabbis are very familiar with the text and the cultural background for it.

    I feel like unfortunately lots of Christians do not value the Old Testament. It is far from boring and has so much wisdom 😢 it is the story of God’s chosen people which also led to Jesus. So much to uncover there!

    I can assure you that pray before starting your moment with Jesus is essential. This week I was going to start my devocional without prayer and I felt the Holy Spirit saying "Prayer first, then you start" so I can tell you that He sees it like a important part of our quiet time with Him

    Hi Faith...I have a question. In your opinion...is it better to read just like a paragraph in the Bible and get everything you can from that before moving on...OR..is it better to go ahead and read a whole chapter of a book in the Bible and glean all you can from the chapter before moving on? Does that make sense?

  • @HowtoFaithALife

    @HowtoFaithALife

    3 жыл бұрын

    That's a great question! I'd say chapter, because you always want to read things in context! Especially in the New Testament gospels, there will be a bunch of little paragraphs of random miracles that make up the chapter, and you COULD study each miracle, but that would only take you so far, but if you study the chapter as a whole, you'll often see a theme and general message/motive of the chapter as a whole so then you see application and theological take-aways and stuff like that! And of course, commentaries will point that out for the reader, too!

  • @HowtoFaithALife

    THE AGE OLD QUESTION! Lol, I ask myself this every time I sit down for my devotions. It depends on the passage, though. At least it's like that for me. Like, if I start reading a passage and it makes no sense, and I have no idea what I am reading, then I'll just go ahead and read the commentary, or some of what it says until I have a better understanding. Then, I'll make sure to go back and read the text and see all that the commentary added for me and often times I'll write all that the commentary said that helped me understand it, in the margins of my Bible! But, most the time it looks like reading a little bit, like a paragraph and then reading the commentary on it and then back and forth and back and forth. It gets even more confusing and messy when you have multiple commentaries! But I love it.

    YES! Makes sense. I typically open it up next to the text I'm trying to study and whenever I have a question I just look over to my commentary and read what it says about the passage. Typically, if it's a good one, it will have the answers to my questions. Hope that makes sense.

    It could not possibly be! Something that's false or a work of fiction could never make any change, because it would be dead- but it has absolutely given me life and meaning and purpose- it is alive and active!

    Over a dozen Books have been removed from the Bible, like the Book of Enoch. When you understand why those books were removed and by who, you will begin to understand who controls Christianity. A lie by omission is still a lie. "Kings, Merchants, Traders and Popes" are who made the Bible. When King James was translating his version of the Bible his translators kept getting assassinated by the Catholic Church. They would only stop if they were allowed to oversee the King James translations. I suggest looking up the Books of the Bible that were removed by agenda driven men and studying those.

    Listen carefully HolySpirit is speaking to you now through me. I Am (AlmightyJesus) only the Holy Father, HolySon and Holy Spirit in the Trinity mode forever Amen I Am the I Am (AlmightyJesus), the true everlasting God, who created all heavens and earth. I myself sent my HolySpirit down to the earth in Virgin mother Mary womb, which latter became human flesh and called as kingChrist, who lived holy unsinful life, revealed about Myself, about My promises, My expectations from human beings, My Wrath against disobedience, unholy & unrighteousness people and finally sacrificed his life in the Holy cross to save mankind from all the worldly sins. Be wise and select only genuine righteousness people in the earth and preach the Gospel as much as you can till the last breath of your life. Do not worry you are special to Me and I will reward you greatly in the heaven My dear precious child.

    As a person who loves to give advice, I can't help to give you advice. Hopefully you don't get offended. I don't intend to do that. But when you use your facial expression, don't overuse it dear. You want to preserve your skins elasticity. Something that you can improve on is caring for your womanly image, having discipline with yourself and not letting yourself too loose. Giving yourself definite self-control. And sharping your feminine glow. This is just something to give an advice, hopefully you think about these things. It is only for your own good. not trying to offend Blessings to you
