i like using a craft knife blade and scraping at a 90 degree angle. takes forever but the results are great.

Damn that cleaned up nice! Wish I had known this trick when I first bought my tri Moto, the plastics on it were horrible and it took hours of scrubbing. Guess I’ll try this on the old blasters and see how they clean up.

How road legal?

The black is fungus growing in the gaps of the deteriorated plastic. I soaked mine in truck wash, left it overnight. Scrubbed with coarse plastic brush the pressure cleaned it. Treated with dashboard treatment.

Use brake cleaner on a buffer wheel on your drill. Then use the thinner/boiled linseed oil mix. The boiled linseed oil has dryers in it just like paint does. If you use raw linseed oil it will leave a slimy mess.

A good stronge pressure washer will take that off get the same thing on my plastic patio chairs

Flitz polish - works on plastic, metal, and clear plastics

I'm doing a restoration on a z400 now I scraped the plastics with a razor blade which I needed to take out some scratches out of the plastic anyways but it worked

tried this with a fine scotch bright pad for the dirt/grime and 1500 grit sandpaper afterwards instead of rags. worked much quicker and got a similar result. maybe 2000 grit to top it off and it worked great

Thinner pulls pigment out of the poly plastic! Purple power and a green scotch Brite pad will do the same thing, Then I use Armorall to put some moisture back!

Steel wool the plastic first then you use Boiled linseed and paint thinner 50 50 mix will look brand new

Wet and Dry would get rid of them scratches 👍🏻

Use toothpaste and water just apply toothpaste to the headlights in a circular motion with a rag and let it sit for about 5min than use water and rag to remove in a circular motion like if your buffing the car

That's what I use

Sold many sets of z400 plastics. They are a total pain in the ass with fade and getting them clean.

May be get a old tooth brush you might get the dirt in the little scraches

i use purple power degreaser and steel wool works just as good

I dont one fender on mine and used whole can of thinner only one finder done so far ran outta thinner

Try a orbital buffer.at 1500 rpm. Cut your time by 2.

Did you see anything in the basement before you dropped your phone.

I used a magic eraser instead of rags and mine looks like new again

Magic eraser is the best

Do you know what caused the black mold? Linseed oil is the cause of the mold. Weathered linseed oil causes mold.

This method works for quick temporary results. Plastic will quickly fade again.

Even the boiled linseed stays sticky. Your better off just using the thinners and then wd40.

thinking you could have wiped down with bleach and then used some dish soap to wash (just looked real moldy)... then go right to last step... thanks

brakleen works too i dont recomend it tho it could eat up your plastics too

To polish my four wheeler I use furniture polish and it’s looks BRAND new and I highly recommend using it. Great video though

Aris Torm that’s right makes it look brand new. My dad bought a bike and sprayed it and wipe the dirt off and he sold it for a lot more than he bought it for.

Suzuki ltz 400

soft scrub with bleach worked back in the day.

Spray wd40 on it allover and it will clean any plastic on your 4 wheeler or sxs

Big price difference between sufficient WD40 and a can each of linseed oil and thinners!

I bet if you used a buffing wheel you could catch it on fire.

I tried this method, super shiny.. BUT is very sticky.. cant even touch it, else my fingerprints ll be all over. Any additional tips? People.. please

I'm surprised it didn't have 1 wheel hopping up and down real fast 😅 like a greatful dogs leg shaking with all those hands rubbing...great recruiting job tho.

kelly dunn it works but you have to wet sand first with like a 800 then 1000 then use buffing compound and a polish it’s just a pain and makes swirls

Buffer can create a lot of heat so i wouldn't.

Wet sand and buff

Power washer

Pressure washer way quicker

Should have just buffed the last stage using rubbing compound

The best way is to use brake cleaner. You bont have to scrub as much and way faster cheaper

What about just washing you bike after you ride it to prevent this also u could store it inside that helps too.

well if you use a pressure washer you will get all the black off all the scratches cleaned out. you will get a very bright yellow it takes alot less time bud. proven fact

Just buy a new quad

If you would of taken care of the 4 wheeler too begin with,you wouldnt have to go through all this.
