Easy HDRI Creation with just a Phone!
HDRI's are an awesome tool to quickly add realistic lighting and reflections to your scene. In this tutorial Nik demonstrates a simple technique to capture 360 degree images with the Google Street View app and goes through three different techniques on how to deal with the lack of dynamic range.

Great idea - thanks. My issue is that I would like some underwater HDRIs and of course water does not make it easy to use that technique - both because you would need an underwater housing for your phone and als because radio signals don't travel through water - I guess I just need blue sky as next best option

Nice tutorial, never realized StreetView can do this. I however have issue on getting the HDRI privately to my computer from my iPhone. What this does is that it saves 8-bit .jpg to my iPhone. It offers me a way to publish it but doesn't give me a way to download. Also is this a native 32bit capture?

You teach me 2 things. 1. Create HDRIs 2. Create relefctions from different HDRi that First we use :D Thanks, Have good day ;)
I guess you cold use a clamped Add node, out of Light Path, to mean Glossy OR Camera, and avoid the second mix.. don't think it makes any difference, really, just the way I happen to do Boolean operators. Can avoid tangles in more complex cases.

Does this really qualify as HDRI? It's not possible to attain high dynamic range without bracketing...

@@skylinex4719 Do you mean that the sun aligner addon, together with this method, makes this a 360º HDRI? Seems suspicious...
@skylinex4719
2 жыл бұрын
@@mrlightwriter Suspicious how? too good to be true? The image is already 360°, but in standard dynamic range. the sun aligner addon just makes it seem as if it was taking in high dynamic range. If you took a 360° of the outdoors on a clear day, your image would be blue because thats the main color. If you used a 360° HDRi that was taken with high dynamic range, the sun would actually know because blender can read that it has brighter pixel values that the blue. (though we can't see it on SDR screens). This addon just adds a sun lamp to make it as if blender could read the sun in our SDR 360° So technically, no it isnt a HDRi, its SDRi

@@prashantkoirala609 Google's Street View App Has Been Shut Down Google has shut down its dedicated Street View app as of March 21, 2023. The app has been removed from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users will still be able to publish their photo spheres using Street View Studio on desktop or mobile, but they will now need a dedicated 360 camera to capture the footage. Google's recommended 360 cameras include the GoPro Max, Labpano Pilot Era, Ricoh Theta X, and the Insta360 camera range. Users can also publish their photo spheres to Google Maps. Unfortunately, there's no way to capture 360-degree footage with a smartphone anymore. There are plenty of third-party 360 photo apps on the App Store, but most of these convert existing panorama photos into a photosphere instead of letting users create one from scratch.

all HDR images are not Equirectangular and all Equirectangular images are not HDR. Equirectangular = One type of panoramic image (can be HDR or regular JPG or PNG) HDRi = High Dynamic Range image (and doesn't mean it must be panoramic)

That's not HDRI.
Well, this is techincally an SDRI, not an HDRI.
