I don't know if I've ever seen a more clear, direct video on knitting instruction. Thank you!
I love this series. I have the power!
I love these more technical "how to make knitting work for you" type videos. It really takes my knitting, and my overall understanding, to the next level! Thanks for updating the thumbnail color too!! Hope you are staying warm this Thanksgiving.
I love every video you put out. Why do I feel more confident and powerful in making knitty decisions after watching you? Because you rock!!! 👏👏👏 thanks so much! Saving this one!
Thank you, Roxanne. Found some inspiration for Christmas hats.😊
Thank for sharing. I am new to knitting and I am always glad to learn new things.
You have perfect timing. I am working on two hats with modifications. Thank you this informative video.
Very helpful, thank you! Looking forward to the rest of this series. I often have trouble getting hats to fit the way I like - I don't like slouchy hats - and I think this simple method would work for me. Looking forward to trying it soon.
Roxanne, this technique Tuesday is a real jewel. Thanks so much for doing all the math for us, I will have fun knitting traveling twisted stitches hat from now on.

I didn't mention this in the video, but for my traveling twisted sts hat, I used ktbl and k2togtbl for the crown of the pink hat, since the rest of the knits in the hat were ktbl.

@@RoxanneRichardson Yes that is a great idea ! Will you publish the pattern ?
I need to watch this again, I am obsessed with your sweater. 😂
Thank you for taking the mystery out of hat crowns. I never understood how to improvise a crown on a hat before. This gives me the freedom to make up my own hats. I’ll be interested in your other types of hat crowns as well.
Thanks Roxanne!❤
Happy ThanksGiving, down there! This video was just awesome, and the information wonderful.
Looking forward to trying this technique.😁😁😁
Thank you for sharing great information ❤
Nice hat patterns!
Great video tutorial, Roxanne. Thanks so much.
These videos make a wonderful reference library! Thank you.
That was an amazing video! Thanks so much that is going in my 'favorites' playlist!
This is perfect for recreating a hat my grandma made me years ago that got eaten by moths... she did not remember anymore which pattern she used, if any, so I have set myself the challenge of doing it myself and writing it up...
Perfect timing for a hat to match my daughter’s winter coat! Thank you!
I've made lots of hats, but I still found this refresher video very helpful. I look forward to the rest of the videos in this series! Thank you so much.
Looking forward to the next episode. So inspiring.
Thanks for great tutorials, I refer to your videos for reference often. ❤️

Thanks for doing this on hats. I learn so much from your technical videos
Saving this for when I can focus. I know this is info I need. 🧶💕🧶
Thank you Roxanne! This was very helpful. Almost everyone in my family has a really big head so I’m constantly modifying hat patterns. Can’t wait to try this technique and looking forward to the next video!!
Thank you for sharing this information with us!
As always very helpful. Thanks.
Very helpful. Thank you very much.
Very informative and helpful!! Thanks again for another great tutorial 😊
😀💕xx brilliant! Thanks Rox.
Another brilliant video. Thank you. I shall be following this series avidly, but then that’s what I do with all your videos, so no change there 😀.
I cant believe how much I learn from your channel. I never had confidence in counting rows. You are so clear. Thank you. Also your video on KZread has me watching ads for at least 30 secs. Hopefully a small way to pay you back.
I just completed a hat using 2 circs and this crown. It turned out great! I knitted a 2x2 ribbing all the way to the crown with a folded brim. Thanks so much!
The most helpful video. So well explained. Thank you.
Excellent !!! thank you
This is perfectly timed for me! I have almost finished a scarf I've done in openwork diamond pattern. I wanted to do a hat to match with 2" in rib 6" in diamonds but didn't know how to dec the top...but thanks to you I now know! Thanks ever so much for your wonderfully informative videos.
Thank you for this succinct and informative tutorial... hats off to you! 🙂
Excellent video. This is SO perfect for the upcoming long holiday weekend with some time for playing with yarn and knitting! I will share the same sentiment that others have already expressed, thanks for giving us the power! Really looking forward to this series. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Roxanne.
This was hugely helpful. Thanks for the explanation!
Great episode! This is so helpful.
Thank you
thank you! this explanation of principles is so clear, a real wonderful engineering :)
Happy Thanksgiving! A third option for the stitch pattern you have chosen would be to elongate or shorten it in the middle of every repeat to fit the row count. Ahhh, the marvels of knitting.

My thought, too!
I just love your work thank you. I've learned so much. I've never been able to get a hat right.
Bedankt Roxanne!!
Thank you for your instructions. It helps a lot
Very interesting (and helpful) video. I had to laugh at myself while watching this video - I was obviously paying more attention to what you were saying than to my knitting, as I suddenly found myself doing a k2tog halfway up the sole of my sock!!
Hello there, you have been very busy and I'm pleased that you have shown me your recipe for these. My Brother lives in Central Otago and they have some pretty epic frosts and snowfalls. He works on a Cherry Orchard and goes through lots of hats which his elder sister, me, knits. This looks to be an interesting way to work these. Happy Thanksgiving, Safe travel and take care.
As you were talking about adapting the stitch pattern, I flashed to written music with repeats and codas.
Thank you!
Thank you!!❤
Great video thank you 😊
A video on how to do this for cables would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks.
Thank you so much for your videos. I’m always learning. Usually I am running two weeks behind in watching, and I just watched the video from two weeks ago where you asked for suggestions on future videos. I am completing an intarsia sweater for my great grandson called the Digger. My outcome is okay, but I know I can do better. I was talking to some fellow knitters and a few of us had some same questions concerning intarsia. This sweater is a good example. So I thought I would throw this out and see if you would consider talking about this topic. Thanks again for all of your Tips and Techniques.

I have three videos relating to intarsia that you can find in my Color Work playlist: kzread.info/head/PL1AZxTfSCe2ciu_XbYOVClammwvqVzIiy
Amazing! I love these series. I'm learning so much. I also have a request when you have time. I've noticed there are very few videos on how to knitchener stitch in color patterns. Maybe it would be a good subject to dive into. I think once you understand how to kitchener st two pieces of fabric together it may be easy enogu, but you explain things so well...For instance: I'm knitting a toddler sweather but I didn't like the middle parte once blocked. So I cut it off instead of ripping the whole thing out. Now I'm reknitting the fair isle portion and I then will sew the pieces together. Lesson learned: blocking is not magic.
Thank you, Roxanne! This is very helpful and clearly illustrated. One question: when you have few stitches left after all the decreases, do you have to switch to double-pointed needles?
Question, when working with bulky or super bulky yarns, are there better suited cast ons, how best to manage the yarn, I the process of just knitting, wrapping the needle, seem to add twist that is more noticeable. I like the look of a chunky knit, and its quick, especially for gifts. But instead of easier, it seem yarn management is more challenging. Am i nuts? Too picky? There must be some secret tip or technique.
Very helpful. Question : if I am knitting very large to felt the hat after, can I still use this patter of decreases. My pattern using a bulky wool calls for multiple plain rounds between decreases.
@RoxanneRichardson
Жыл бұрын
Your hat may have a longer, more fitted method of shaping the crown, which will remain smooth when felted. This method is quite gathered, and may not be a great option for felting. Only way to know for sure would be to try it and see what happens.
Rox please post a k2og double yoSL1kw how to do it and what is he purpose of double yo? Thanks

It looks like you may have mistyped the instruction. Without seeing what the instruction actually is, there's no way to answer your question.
Would please help me how can I decrease when the hat has pattern such as those what you demonstrated I can’t decrease every 10 stitches or knit 2 and so on Please help me Thanks so much for your useful explanation which makes it easy and interesting Best regards Fatima

Regardless of the stitch pattern you are using, once it's time to start the crown, you stop working the stitch pattern you have been using, and instead work the instructions exactly as I explained, using only knits and k2togs.
