The recipe is amazing! Easy to make and the result exceeded all expectations.

One of Mom's go to recipes. Delicious. After eating it for 50+ years, I recently learned her secret. She had gotten the recipe from my aunt, who included peas. Mom interpreted this as black-eyed peas instead of green peas. We all think it's a great substitution.

Brings back memories. The old man used to call it hillbilly stew made with canned and frozen mixed vegetables. Nasty stuff we used to choke down with a slice of white bread smeared with bacon grease when we were near broke.

If you don’t add the tomato sauce, it is very similar to the vegetable beef soup my mother made. If you want an idea as to how awful her cooking was, this was one of her best recipes. Her other edible recipe was spaghetti sauce. Unfortunately, she would boil the pasta until it was a gelatinous mass. She would bake a chicken until it was chicken jerky for fear of getting salmonella. I began cooking when I was 12. Friends asked me why I started so young: self defense! I am a pretty good cook.😊. I do still make vegetable beef soup like this, just not all that tomato sauce. Ugghhh!

Hey if you think hamburger and canned vegetable stew is one of the best recipes then choke down a crock-full if you like. I don't need an idea as to how awful it was. I know how awful it was. And be sure to grab you a few slices of the bacon grease smeared white bread so it all will slide down and slide out. @@merk9569
