I’ve attended to a few of these months and years later, the moisture always gets in and corrodes the copper causing a hot joint . Anyone who’s thinking of doing it use a underground joining kit, contains inline joiners and resin to make it completely waterproof ! This may work in a pinch but it won’t last forever

I have not located splicing tape for waterproof direct burial. Above ground, dry location yes, but over time in the ground it does not hold up. Am I wrong?
@Erklzanderz
2 ай бұрын
@robertplas3947 yes, scotch/3m makes a waterproofing tape that is the same thing that is included in the UF direct burial splice kit. I would recommend using something like the process shown here or a heat shrink waterproof tubing over the top, but at that point you might as well buy the direct burial kit for $13-15....

Should have used Noalox since your using an aluminum splice block on copper conductor or use copper crimp connector and noalox since it prevents corrosion and increases conductivity then put mastic on the connection and use shrink tube over that you could then use what ever outside of that if you want more protection

When the majority of people think there is only one way to do something and someone comes along with a simpler easier fix it offends them and they state their opinion as fact. It’s hard for professionals such as yourself to not get offended at my videos because they are so simple and work so well.

@Erklzanderz

@robertplas3947 yes, scotch/3m makes a waterproofing tape that is the same thing that is included in the UF direct burial splice kit. nicholas manfredi many farms need water for crops and animals. Many hard working American farms don’t have the leisure to wait on a big headed high dollar electrician while their animals and crops die. Maybe I’m lucky but me and many old timers have had this exact hack work for years. Wish you the best!
That tape and silicone is worthless underground and the water/dirt is going to run up the jacket and cause corrosion.

@@constructionhacks9293 don’t post stuff when you don’t know what you’re doing! Someone can get hurt, that’s not the environment to experiment in. What if that line finds ground while someone is around or working on it and they get hit? Best case, it works for a decade and then starts to heat up, now your voltage is dropping and damaging equipment. There are products out there (Dryconn) that are UL listed for direct bury for $7-$8. Being willing to learn is also a great idea for your channel, I’m not attacking you personally but surprised that you post a video without any reference for NEC or how a tradesman would repair it.
You gotta be kidding me. Folks, don’t do this. This guy just made a great big fool of himself.

We will have to call that a Trump joint. This is backwoods and will last about as long as one of his many marraiges! They make kits where you use heavy shrink tube or a plastic tube that encases the splice with epoxy.

Amen. Slow Joe would still be out in the driveway staggering along scratching his head trying to figure out how to make this repair cost the taxpayers $2,000,000. There would be a study done on which big box store plastic bag is best for the wrap and how to insure everyone involved was addressed with their preferred pronouns.@@constructionhacks9293

Electricians' Community UK I think it interesting that at one pint and time in history there were men burned at the stake for telling others that numerous galaxies existed. This works as a quick fix for folks in a tight spot needing temporary power to a well not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars and waiting on a schedule for y’all to come with your hard hat and nose up in the air with a huge bill for them. Good day sir!!!

Trevor Ord I’ll break it down for you, this goes way over professionals head. When the majority of people think there is only one way to do something and someone comes along with a simpler easier fix it offends them and they state their opinion as fact. It’s hard for professionals such as yourself to not get offended at my videos because they are so simple and work so well. It may be better if you don’t watch my videos you may learn something which will offend you more. 😎

Remember to use a lowes bag and not a Democratic bag. It'll cost to much if you do. better replacing the whole wire in that case. and increasing the fuel costs so the taxpayers can pay for it.
That’s the way to do an underground joint? Seriously? Have you never heard of shear bolts and resin joints? If you did this shit on one of my jobs you would be off site within seconds! You should immediately stop giving any electrical advice.
