Gonna give this a shot tomorrow. I was afraid to be too aggressive with getting the old ring out, but you make it look simple. Thanks for the lesson!

Hey bro, just want to say you just got me out of a jam right now . Taking the bike out of hibernation and found this leak . I had a green o-ring kit just sitting on shelf for all purpose that went perfectly the first time ! Just want to say thanks . Keep doing what you’re doing 🤙

Hey brother, what size is that o-ring? I have to replace mine in my 2008 Street Bob. My o-ring was in pieces. So I really don't have a way to compare. Thanks for your help.

I splashed gas in both of my eyes at the same time, when I was a kid. I'll never forget how that felt. Thanks for the tip on the o-ring.

I had some problem to reach the o-ring and suddenly it came out with a spring and the metal piece where the o-ring should be fastened on, does this mean that I have to buy the whole kit for 150 USD?

Thanks for answering my question, so there is a spring and a little metal bit up there because mine just fell out can’t find the spring😢

Man, what was Harley thinking with a quick connect fitting? I think I'll just cover mine in gas RTV and push it back in. I can't see any reason to ever take that line off.

they usually dont ever cause an issue until they come apart after they've sat for a long time. if you dont have to pull it at all, I wouldnt. and I wouldnt want to risk getting RTV in the fuel system

@@GilstrapGarage Yeah, I have never used that connection, so I was surprised it decided to leak a week after my last ride. I managed to get the o-ring replaced after two attempts and an hour of poking.

I'm about to attempt this with "Permatex Permashield Gasket Dressing & Sealant". I've never removed this connection but it's suddenly leaking so much my mpg's were more than halved. I kinda need to commute to work so a readily available quick fix is required. In any case, I absolutely agree that just not having such a ridiculous connector would have solved so many unnecessary fuel leak issues.

@@donowolf I was able to find an o-ring that works (don't have the size on me right now but it was metric and Advance Auto only had one in stock) The hardest part was getting the old one out and being VERY GENTLE putting the new one in. But after doing it, I would definitely recommend going with the new o-ring. The fuel pump is in the tank, so you have to trust the RTV to hold up to ~90 psi while also somehow getting the sealant into a 1/8 groove in a 1/4" hole, avoiding the lock balls and the very sensitive plunger that holds the fuel. With the amount of effort getting it done and the daily second-guessing, it's better just doing it the right way. Besides, that RTV needs 24 hours to cure and the second you try to put the connection together it will be putting fuel on it and preventing that. And really, even with all the picking and gentle poking to change the o-ring, it only took 30 minutes. That's about as quick as you can get for repairs. (Just don't get frustrated because it's taking too long like I did the first time)

95% of the time you dont have to take this assembly apart! Just disconnect fuel line from check valve and change out the O-ring thats right there inside the housing, not on the check valve. Pop out with a small pick. Leaving the check valve in the unit. I just did it on my 2017 ultra limited and it worked great. No more dripping fuel. Use safety glasses so you dont hit the button and spray fuel in your eyes!!! Also no need to disconnect battery pull fuel pump wire none of this. Its literally a 4-5 minute fix!!!

That’s literally everything I did in this video with the exception of glasses and disconnecting the fuel pump. And I mentioned in the video to wear glasses after I got sprayed.
