We got a few spots. There's Lechonera at S.R. 50 that's pretty good. Clermont's got El Cerro. Kissimmee's got a few places that's pretty good to eat. But you're not wrong. They're far and few in between.

dominican food is awful. I feel bad for your taste buds
I am Sicilian, but my fiancé is Dominican, born and raised. Your recipes help me cater to his palate, as well as introduce our young son to the traditional dishes of his heritage. Mi suegra has shared her recipes and tips with me, pero we can only get so far within our language barriers, although I am slowly learning. Thank you so much for sharing your gift, it truly means so much to my family and I. Muchas Gracias y Buen Provecho.

I just tried this and the beans came out so good! Your channel is honestly heaven sent. I’m Dominican and unfortunately I never learned how to cook true Dominican style, you’re really helping me out! 🙏🏻😘
The amount of times I’ve watched this video ( I always forget how to make my fav dishes) is OUTSTANDING. This is the easiest yummiest recipe ever and you make it so easy to accomplish, thank you!!

It’s me again! I’m back gosh I love this recipe! Why haven’t I written it down? Idk!
I made this for my Dominican husband along with your stewed chicken recipe & he loved it so much! Thank you. 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chef Zee your videos have saved my life in cooking for sure - I’m 72 yrs old and never really learned how to cook Spanish ( my very favorite dish) and I am puertorican ... I made the beans and I’m happy to say I nailed it... yaaay luv you kid..
I'm Peruvian but I was raised in NJ for 12 years and grew up with Dominican friends from school, but I came back to my home country 9 years ago. I was just telling my father the other day stories about how when I was in high school I used to sneak off during lunch and go to a Dominican restaurant that sold this and pollo guisado. so I looked up videos and I stumbled upon your video. When I made this I smelled it and it brought back so many memories :'( thank you for bringing back those memories for me, and also this came out so delicious!!! My partner who is also Peruvian fell in love with the recipe that I'm making it again today!!!!!
I grew up in Aruba and my country is so diversed with many different cultures and I grew up eating dominican beans. Now I am studying abroad and I miss dominican beans :( and domincan food .
I usually take out the peppers , onions and auyama and blend them and throw them back in to thicken the beans

I’m Puerto Rican and I thought Dominicans made sofrito like us which is really blending all those fresh ingredients she rough chopped in the blender and sautéing them in olive oil which brings out the flavor of the fresh ingredients. There’s no right or wrong way. We just prepare the same foods slight differently.,

this was maaaad helpful, thank you so much! this was my first time making beans and it tasted just like my grandma's from DR!
Omg I'm puerto rican and I made these DR beans instead omg. so much better than even my own family recipe holy shit!!!! omg so good. I din't have ajitos or recao, I put cilantro , and cumin too...omg so good. also paprika. I used 2 cans of dark red kidney beans ....that thyme omg so good.
Thanks girl! Cannot wait to make this. Goes with wh rice, beef, chicken, pork, annnnnndddddd maduros!!😍 I must be the only Dominican that HAS to have maduros with rice and beans. I don't even need the meat!☺
Girl you forgot a slice of avocado, YUM, ❤️❤️❤️👍🏼
Gracias chef zee, salieron riquisimas esas habichuelas 😋
I always wondered why my beans didn’t come out as good as my moms did. She always said that I’m too busy to watch her while she’s cooking. Thanks to this video, now I know why. I never added sugar or vinegar. Now my beans are on point!!! Thank you chef Zee !!
As a Dominican/Puerto Rican young woman, I am so embarrassed to not know how to make beans and rice!! This video was so helpful. I can’t wait to make some arroz con habichuela tonight ♥️

xHaus0fGagax Sorry but poor excuse. When I was living on my own I told my mother who is no longer here to teach me how to make Puerto Rican style beans and yellow rice. I am so thankful she did. At first I hated my food. But with practice I must say my food now kicks a**.

I find myself coming back to this video often since about 8 months ago
Hay Zee, don't you know I was on the hunt for ajicitos and I could not find them anywhere. I walk into a shoprite in town and see something that looked exactly like the ajicitos you use! I didn't even read to see what the name was I just grabbed a handful and headed towards cashier. I got home and made the beans using my "ajicitos" and AAAAAHHHHHH. So spicy!🥵 When I check really good this time I grabbed HABANERO peppers!😟 Omg I'm embarrassed to even admit that Im dominican after that lol. Can't wait to try again with regular peppers since I cant find the ajicitos. Thanks for the recipe!

Girl no worries!!! Habaneros and ajicitos look identical. Don't be embarrassed.... I STILL make this mistake to this day lol. I've gotten in the habit of smelling them bc while they look similar, they smell different and you can tell almost immediately 😅
