Good information. Suggestion for those trying this. When you get your lines drawn out. Cut on the outside of the lines so that the pieces are a bit larger than your plan. You can always trim to fit better BUT you cant put back material you cut off. On the sides where the flaps were cut out. I would not cut them as deep so when they are folded up it would cover the side if the foot for more protection. On the lacing. After you get your center point tie a small knot on each side of the center so the lace can not slip while you are tying it to your foot.

I had seen a video of this style shoe about 6 years ago. I made a pair from fabric as practice and I loved them. They were so soft and comfortable. I wore them as slippers. Thank you for sharing your knowlege in this craft as I would like to make another pair.

Miss Vanessa, with two children, a huge garden, canning, colecting and drying the seeds for next years garden, a lot of animals to take care of; general housework, editing videos, and there are times when camera shows you walking a long way off! And I don't think you are walking all the way back to get your camera, etc. So, I am guessing that you have a very good and loving husband to help with all this. Tell him we all said thankyou!

Serendipity! I was just thinking about this a few days ago. I really wanted to make a pair of leather moccasins, but I figured it would be too complicated. Thanks for demonstrating a simple way of making a nice, quality pair. 👍

As said before Vanessa, your a 100% bushcraft lady, reminds me of some moccasins I had to make at one time, good showing how to get there, but not picking at your English their is no D in English spoken leather. Hi Vanessa .. another super Video from you 👍 .. thank you 😊. Perhaps a little tip (more useless information 😆) that one can consider to ensure that the shoe top straps are the same on each side of the foot .. 1. Draw and cut out the straps on one side of the shoe and then 'trace' (copy) the shape onto a piece of paper or cloth and then transfer this to the other side. 2. Provided the leather is soft and flexible enough, after drawing the top shoe straps on the one side, , cut them out, fold the shoe in the middle, down the length and then copy the shape to the other side. Thank you for sharing this with us (good and practical does not have to be complicated and expensive). Am looking forward to your next one. Please be careful out there .. be safe. Best regards .. Hi Vanessa. Iwas looking at your older videos and found this one. A wonderful video. Very well explained and made. Thanks for the video Wild Woman. You are very creative. Those shoes look like they would be soft and very comfortable, and you can customize them to your foot. I am interested to try this. I think I will use leather from buffalo. It is thick and durable. It may be that the sole of the shoe may last longer with this type of leather. I will try it and see.
