Nice presentation, you can wash off the soil, thread the roots through the net cup and fill in the void with perlite. That way only the roots get wet. That would be the easiest way to go. The issue with keeping the soil in the net cup is that soil will stay moist, because it will also wick up water and moister, keeping the block wet against the stem and cause issues for the plant stem.

Thanks for the tips ! - Geez you are 100% right with all you said ! I touched the soil just yesterday, and it's wet ! exactly like you said ! and it's more than wet, it's really wet. OK, I'm going to look at the plants today and see if I can make a change. I'm not sure if I have perlite, ( I may have used it all up last summer ) but I do have the clay pellets, but they won't hold the plants in place as well as perlite I'm guessing. Thanks for watching and thanks for the very excellent suggestions !! It's much appreciated ! 🙂

@GrowLikeAPro the clay should work. Thread the roots through the bottom. Hold the plant centered and fill it with the pellets all around, like when you up pot seedlings in soil. Your water touches the net cup perfectly, the roots will be in contact with the water and get adjusted. The stem can them dry off.

Thank you for the additional help. I just by the way ordered some perlite off of Amazon. I checked in my garage and had a huge bag of vermiculite that I don't even remember buying, anyway, I did a Google and watched 2 videos on it vs perlite, and decided not to try using it. Turns out vermiculite really holds the water much more than perlite so that would really keep those stems way too wet. Perlite arrives Thursday, so I'll either try out your method Thurs or probably Friday. If I do I'll do a fast video on it and post it. Thanks again for your help !

@GrowLikeAPro are the clay pellets that you have like the aquaponic hydroton?

Oh geez, I have no clue. I just copy and pasted the info from the Amazon description here: Grow!T GMC10L Horticultural Clay Pebbles . Part of the description says this: ---> Hydroponics/hydroculture - used widely in hydroponic growing, they are ideal for flood and drain, deep water culture and drip feed systems Aquaponics - are also ideal to be used in aquaponic systems

Nice idea. I was looking for an easy way to get my strawberries started before moving them to my still under construction grow tower. I think we may have a winner. Thx.

Hi Steve ! 🙂 Glad the video was of use to you. If you have a Home Depot in your area, try and find those containers. If not, I bet the dollar store has tons like that too. Glad you found the net cups ! Thanks for watching !

You should paint the box black so the algae won't grow in it.

I was looking for a cheap way of getting into the hobby. I saw people use air bubblers (for aquariums) in the solution for oxygen.

Hi Michel, try this out for fun. This method is proven, it's all over KZread with people doing it, and there's no need for that extra equipment. Honestly, I just don't want to get into a more elaborate method that needs me tossing more money at it, and a lot more time. I have so many things going with this method ( The Kratky method ) and all plants are really growing so well ! It's exciting ! Thanks so much for watching ! 😊
