Hi Melissa, I have a dryer hack. If your garments come out wrinkly, or you need to quickly remove some wrinkles from an item, throw an ice cube in with the clothes and turn the dryer on for a few minutes, then remove the item(s) immediately and hang up. There may (or may not) be a little bit of wet spots but they will dry quickly and your garment will be virtually wrinkle free.

The best cleaning advice I have ever learnt from you is "letting it sit." Honestly, that has saved me so much frustration and cash! I use a variation of your cleaning spray too, so thank you very much for giving me the tools for a clean home, in much less time and easy on the pocket xx

The all purpose cleaner is amazing! It's my go-to cleaner and tea tree oil is just the right hint of clean scent that doesn't give me a migraine. I had to make a second bottle of the AP cleaner for the garage because I got tired of hunting it down when I needed it 😁

WD-40 is my friend when I want to make things shine. My apartment was totally gutted and remodeled 5 years ago and builder's grade everything was used. It's lovely and I appreciate having a nice place to live but I have to be careful what I use to clean with. I use the homemade mixtures for the everyday cleaning. But when I need to spiffy things up I will use the WD-40 on my appliances, fixtures, sink, anywhere I want to make it look new. The landlord does a walk-through twice a year and she says I have the cleanest apt. Thanks, Melissa for making me look good!

I love your DIY cleaners - and borax is one of my favorites. I mix 2 Tbsp borax with a cup of baking soda, and keep it by the tub to add to Epsom salt baths - is also great as a cleaner - I sprinkle some in the toilet bowl about weekly. I use eco laundry strips, and love them! I'm trying a bar of dish soap when my new house is finished (soon, I hope!!) But keep liquid on hand. I mix several Tbsp borax with 15 oz hot water to dissolve, then pour about 1/4 cup in the laundry dispenser most loads. I also got a set of natural wool dryer balls that I use regularly.

I am trying to switch to products that are better for me and better for the environment because I am struggling with infertility and I am trying to switch to more natural products to see if they help…So I made some changes like buying perfume free products, including dish soap that it’s perfume free. I started using essential oils instead of perfume for the house. I use natural soap as a body wash instead of general shower gel . And I started using more DYI home cleaning products so thank you for this video.

Washing up liquid. I use Fairy, I think it's the British equivalent of Dawn. For a long time I used bar soap to wash dishes (not hand bar soap) but when I went back to ferry it made washing the dishes so much easier. I can also be used to make other cleaning products around the home so it's multi-use and probably the product I use more than any other in my home.

You can absolutely make your own laundry detergent using equal amounts of marseille soap and baking soda and adding 15 - 20 drops of lemon essential oil.It cleans the clothes perfectly, even darker ones. For fabric softener I recently switched to white vinegar (again adding essential oil, usually lavender). It leaves the clothes really soft and delicately smelling!

What laundry detergent do you use/like?

Dryer sheets. It's not the only store bought item I use obviously, but it's the one that I've tried REALLY hard to go without and I can't. I've tried all the alternatives, from the aluminum foil to the dryer balls, but not using sheets is super noticeable, even when I use liquid softener. It's ok for a few weeks and I don't use them every time, but eventually the static starts to build up and the pet hair stops coming off the linens.

Try this: Cut a new kitchen sponge into 8ths. In a jar, mix a nearly full jar of water with 1Tsp to 1Tbsp fabric softener and shake to mix. Store the sponge bits in the jar. Every third time your laundry gets washed, squeeze out a sponge bit until it's nearly dry and toss it in the dryer with your laundry. For extra static days, mix a sprayer full of water with a few drops to 1 tsp of fabric softener. Shake to mix. When your clothes feel staticky or are wrinkled, mist on the fabric spray, snap the item and either wear, or hang or fold, smoothing fabric as you go. This works great. Remember to wash your dryer lint screen twice a month to remove fabric softener residue. To tell if you have softener buildup, remove the lint screen, clean off lint and pour some water on the screen. If the water beads up, even just a little, hand wash it in warm water with dish detergent. Pat dry with a clean towel and return to dryer.

Try adding vinegar to your wash cycle. I learned that vinegar is a natural fabric softener when I was cloth diapering my babies. (Fabric softeners ruin the absorbency of the cloth diapers, but nobody wants scratchy diapers!) I was pleasantly surprised to find that vinegar does indeed work! About a cup in each batch (in the wash cycle) does the trick for me.

Do you have a video about the store bought cleaning products that you find are better than DIY? And are you using any of those in other ways beside the obvious? It would be super helpful to know where my money is best saved by DIY and where it should be spent for products to get the most out of my time cleaning, so I can be effective, but lazy. ;)

I have very hard water. Would that affect the cleaning properties or my surfaces using these solutions?
