This is a go- to blanket. Thanks for the tutorial. I learned a new stitch at the very beginning instead of just chaining 3. It has much more body and in my 60+ years crocheting I've never seen that in place of a ch 3. More professional. Thank you!

I love the shell stitch and use it as an edging. I was keen to try this pattern for a baby blanket. I have now done my foundation row plus two shell rows but it is curling. If I keep going will it straighten out or does it mean I have to undo and start again with a larger hook for the foundation row.

  • @BlossomCrochet

If you’re having a problem with the first row curling then I’d definitely do the chain with a larger hook and then swap back to the Normal hook for the first shells 😊

At times I see you are yarning over and then pulling through one loop leaving two on the hook and then two and then two. I have also seen you yarn over and draw through two loops and then Two loops. Hoping to have you let me know if I’m just “seeing things!” Also, I love how instead of chaining three and turning your work to make a straighter edge…I’m having a difficult time following even those small steps to complete it. Even slowing down the playback speed doesn’t help. Do you have written directions for that? Love your video and this pattern.

I think this one is hard to make straight if you're beginner because its not explained how you finish each row. I did a sample of 12 on my chain and if I did 3 fans I then don't know how to stop each row as the first row starts with a fan from counting the 3 skipped stitches as a treble. Wouldnt each row start and finish the same and if its multiples of 4 we all should have the same edges to the blanket. I've tried a few ways and still can't finish straight. How do you know when to end on one treble crochet... how do you know to do that as a beginner. Mine was 12 stitches... skip 3 and do 4 trebles inc skipped 3 makes 5. I skipped another 3 did another 5 trebles in the 4th. That leaves me in my sample with 4 stitches. If I skip 3 what do I do at the end just one treble so its straight? Someone help 😫

I really like this blanket and am making it. However, the stitch joining the next shell is loose no matter how tight I try to make it. This happened on the vintage fan stitch blanket too. I think you need to address how to stitch to get good stiches when shipping in these videos. The blankets are still pretty but not as pretty as yours. I'm using medium yarn with 6mm hook.
