The woman from 4:30 is Russian. She has a strong russian accent. And she said a phrase in Russian. Thanks for the video! As a Russian(but I also speak Bulgarian), I'm so glad I can understand your language without reading the English subtitles.

Russian??! Really? Well, thank you very much! I went to the end of the internet and back to figure out which language she spoke, but google didn't help. I perfectly understood what she said. It's nice that we all can comunicate a bit :) This summer I was in Bulgaria for one week and Bulgarian is very similar to Croatian. After two days I gave up from English and German and spoke only Croatian. I had no problems.

Mato Bošnjak Thank you for the answer! I think this woman has lived outside Russia/post-soviet countries for a long time so she has acquired some accent in Russian too, but anyway without doubt she's Russian. I myself live outside Russia too so I’ve learned how to distinguish russian accent from others :) Hvala vam! Cekam novi video od vas! Volim hrvatsku!

Больше всего понравилось короткое интервью на смеси английского, словацкого и хорватского. Оказывается, для русского хорватский язык со словацким акцентом проще воспринимается :-)

Question to the producer: Do you actually notice different (regional) accents in Croatian when interviewing? Does such a thing exist in this video? Just curious :) And do you manage to find out which 'slavic language' was it?

  • @matobosnjak4816

Yes I do notice regional accents. Maybe not during interview, but certainly after, during editing. There are only few words in accent in our every video. I guess people try to speak standard language in front of the camera :) I tried to google what she said but couldn't find out which slavic language she spoke. It sounds like Slovenian or Czech or maybe even Slovak. I'm not sure, but I easily understood what she said.

adican Accent of Zagreb, but it's not really an accent. It's more like contemporary form of speaking. Best example is parking lot guy at 3.30. But they mostly speak standard language. Especially lady at 2.41 - she speaks pure standard Croatian.

Actually they are the same lamguage with same small differences (especially in lexikon). It's just matter of politics and history, but Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian are like 3 dialects of the same language. The real differences are with Slovenian (which share some features with West slavic languages) and Macedonian (very close to Bulgarian).
