Easy & Cheap DIY Headboard | Cardboard Box DIY | Aja Dang
Hi! I'm Aja Dang this video is a super EASY DIY on how to turn cardboard boxes into luxurious and fabulous headboards! This easy tutorial will allow you to take a $2,000 headboard idea (from Mandy Moore's house tour btw) into an affordable do it yourself headboard. This is super budget friendly as I only spent $300 on supplies and it was a great, beautiful way to update my bedroom.

Idk where she bought that fabric but this can be done for waay cheaper than almost $400. Even w good quality fabric. That being said the result was very pretty and she worked hard at it im glad she’s happy w it.
I thought for a second you had like 5 dogs running around but then I realised it was a mirror 😂

I appreciate your tutorial. I especially love the fact that you featured my Havanese Maximilian Bucks Sayre.
This is so cute and the result is really elegant. The fact you used cardboard isn't just clever (and super affordable/achievable) but also really smart. The headboard is really just decoration after all and just needs enough structural integrity to stay up. Great work!

Love love LOVE the wallpaper and green velvet and the way they contrast. Beautiful! The headboard gives me major Scarlett O’Hara curtain dress vibes 💚
Mandy Moore’s home interior is also my inspo for my furure house! Thanks Aja for showing us that we can also achieve it quite easily! Can’t wait to see your finished room!! ☺️
I love that he modeled your amazing work w his hands while laying in the bed
LOVE the look of the green against the patterned wall - gorgeous choice!
This looks so so good. That wallpaper and color/fabric combo is EVERYTHING
A Wild imagination is free of charge☺👍

You can just go to the thrift store they always have lots of fabric or things you can use as fabric for super cheap. Plus your saving the environment
Great job!!! I love it, I just would have placed it a little bit higher so that the beautiful fabric and stand out a little more against the white pillow 👍!!!
I love the inspiration, the green is stunning yet soothing. Green needs more appreciation for sure! Not a fan of the cardboard if I’m being honest, instead a manageable plywood as the sturdy base would’ve, for myself, been preferred. But that aside, I love the green separated pillowy puffs as a background against your phenomenal wallpaper! Literally took my breath away when you revealed it! If I try this I think, I’ll go with plywood backing and a 1x2 or thicker board like 1x4 frame surrounding each rectangle, not sure if I’d stain the wood dark or try for a lovely green accent that’s either stained or painted. If you chose a frame you could rip the plywood to size, add the batting/foam, lay the fabric over and use the frame to help secure it all to the plywood.
totally influenced my outlook towards how to decor :3 LOVE THESE DECOR DIYs!!
I'd have used some thin osb or mdf boards if it was going to end up costing hundreds anyways! Looks great though!
One of the best DIY projects I've seen👍👍👍

Excited for the room tour !!
Excuse the miss spelling last post... fat fingers small key board.Lol This was a Great DIY explaining how to and where to get the cardboard. I love the separate panels making such a large span doable and creates squared individual panels much more interesting. Can't wait to try this a little higher up...And maybe some buttons in the middle of each panel...simple but quite elegant velvet headboard Thanks again!
Good job Aja! That wall paper is the bomb!
Loved this!! You go girl!!!! Totally something I would do myself ❤️💕
I dont need any other tutorials now. It looks so good, and the idea of having it go to the floor is smart too, even if its more fabric. Because then it can stand by itself.
Absolutely BRILLIANT!
Yaaaasss!! MacGyver that ish!! This looks like fun. I don't need a new headboard, but this gives me an idea for a Fall project for my place.
thank thank thanks much! definitely a game changer and i will be doing this soon.
Thank you for his diy. Mine came out great for my first attempt. 😊😊
Girl u did that! I love it!!😍😍😍
This is beautiful!
I love this diy and the outcome!💜
Looks awesome
Stunning!!
Love the headboard
I LOVE YOU AJAAA. And your positive vibes
Exactly what I was looking easy and cheap. I won’t spend that much on the fabric. I love it

Love the wallpaper!
you inspiration image was the exact same one i was looking for a diy on here for! didn't even think of using cardboard for the back!
Awesome!! 😍
I love it! Yes, the cost of the fabric got me BUT it's still 200 cheaper than if I were to purchase a headboard I actually liked. I was shown one for 550! No thanks! The fabric you picked is exquisite! Just gorgeous!
Too brilliant!
Looks great!
nice! cant wait for an apt tour
Super cool!
This was a Great DIY to show of his simple this can be done. You achieved what you wanted from this. A great starting point, to add tufted, squared tufted etc.. For those wanting cheaper...The head board did not need to go all the way to the floor if you want to save $. And night stands cover that area if you have them. In reality the head board is very low if he was sitting up his head would be over the top? thanks for 'll the great insight in making the cardboard frame!
Thank you for doing this video. It has given me thought for the 'VANT' system that they sell for about £250 - £300 per 4 slats (and that is small) you would need a few thousand pounds/dollars to do a decent headboard with the 'VANT' system - now I can DIY my own with cardboard. My issue was how to do my own and put on the wall - now I have the answer!
thanks for this, gonna make a cloud headboard with this technique!
Love DIYs 👍🏾
Hot damn!! That is a great idea 💚💚
Looks good. I want that wallpaper.
I LOVE IT!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏💃
Lovely
i love it

I'm dying @ the way her man is displaying her creation 😂😭
Thank you for this video 😊
Good idea 👍
Subbed! Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤
Very creative, artsy, and frugal project Aja! How about doing it with a wood frame (hardware store can cut wood pieces to your desired measure) and just wrapped the fabric around it to create a more sturdy and symmetrical design. I am an artist and used to staple canvas on wood which can be created in the same manner with fabric to create headboards, and if you know how to paint you can create designs with acrylic paints on the canvas or fabric to create personalized paintings of your liking. Just an idea in case the cardboard does not last or becomes loose with time.
This is a money saver !!!!!! But I’m gonna do this for a whole lot cheaper ! You did that

what brand staple gun are you using?
What kind of dog do you have? My dog looks very similar but she’s a light brown color. I rescued her and trying to figure her breed out.
Where is the wallpaper from?
Could I use Styrofoam instead og cardboard? I've got some big pieces laying around.
My only critique is that I wish you spent less on the fabric. Otherwise, great DIY work! :-)
where did you get the foam padding
That floor lamp though! Where is that from please?!

Aja, do you think your masters or undergrad helped you in any way to the point you are right now? I'm currently entering the third year of my undergrad for psychology, and I honestly don't know if I should be going into grad school or even complete my undergrad... My university is very expensive and I don't know if I'll land a good job after undergrad with this psychology degree. I'm not sure what to do, what do you think? I know it seems like a bit of a waste to not continue with my undergrad, but I don't really even enjoy psychology and I'm not doing too well in it either. I was thinking of taking a year off, but I don't think my parents would be too happy about that. I would really appreciate your advice!

Simran Pahwa can I share my input? Get a degree in either nursing or engineering. It will be so difficult to get a job that pays a decent wage for a B.S. in psychology. You’ll have to go to a doctorate level in psychology to make a good living. Avoid gap years, transfer to a cheaper university, get loads of internships in this field, build connections because there will be no jobs waiting for you! You’ll have to hustle through 500 applicants for one job to get an entry level position. Then, there are layoffs and you’ll have to start from the beginning.. I guess you could work as a social worker but the pay is not great either. Good luck! 🍀
Looks great! I’d probably use plywood and not cardboard so it’s sturdier.
