Sponsors are great as long as it doesn't take too much of your time. What you are doing without the sponsors... And I admit with less money, Is to take the time to show your sincerity, teach people to obey the law, and enlighten them with the way that the world chooses to cook. It's a great thing. Choose your sponsors carefully, I notice that when you start getting a lot of sponsors, the qualities of these vids goes down. Good luck .

good trick would be to shorten vids and put out more(if he wants more subs and a better monetization on making money from views) ive seen a few channels stagnate in progress when releasing long videos but only once or twice a week or less.

The dark part is the belly fat. I scrape all that off as well. It tastes a bit bitter. And I agree with your assessment. Jacksmelt is definitely far from the best tasting fish, but is still pretty yummy when fresh and properly cooked

I learned a great recipe from my grandpa for smelt. Me and my niece use to catch them off the pier in new port beach ca. Prepare it exactly like you did. Salt, pepper, garlic powder. Get bisquik or pancake flour and shake n bake style in a bag. Fry it in butter medium heat. Squeeze some lemon juice on top 👍

I caught a nice sized smelt while crab fishing today. Bleed it, and gutted at the pier. Put on ice immediately. Cooked in a Japanese fish grill at home. My son, who doesn't seem to like anything but fish for his meals gobbled it up. I really don't understand why this is such an under-rated fish. They're delicious, and due to little demand.... highly sustainable.

Foraging and cooking it up has been my favorite thing to do since I was a teenager and first began learning about wild edibles. Im visiting Rhode Island in August for the first time and am already looking forward to cooking up some seaweed and marine foods on the beach. You're living my dream bro. Maybe one day I'll start making videos too. I've always wanted to start a cooking channel where all the recipes are made with wild edibles. Then have a separate playlist of hiker meals prepared along with the myriad of home recipes hikers now use....Pretty much a channel like "Tasty" but with hiker food and foraged wild edibles....One day 🤤. Thanks for the inspiration.

YES! you should definitely travel with this catch and cook style youtube show. Maybe start with traveling all the coasts of North America, including Mexico in van or truck camper. Then head overseas. Your approach is honest and down to earth, try to keep it that way just change the locations. If you can try to keep your travels low cost and share how you did it with us other wannabe catch and cookers who would like to visit other destinations. For instance I'd love to camp the Baja fishing the whole way around it. Start in Ensenada in Nov, circle the peninsula and be back north for Spring time. There would many miles of surf fishing and free camping. How cool would that be.

Very similar style to Malay cooking. We would add soya sauce and lime juice to the fried onions and chillies. But put it as a dipping sauce by the side. The fish can be sprinkled with curcumin powder and rubbed with salt before frying. Eat with hot steamed rice.

It would be exciting to see what you could do while you're here in Hawaii , you could also collab with Hawaii fishing channels while you're here if you need to

I like Smelt. I prefer it over surf perch. Cook it in soups. It can have difficult bones for those who don’t know how to enjoy eating fish that are boney. Good job. Surprised you caught one in the surf zone. Usually they can be found of jetties, piers and from boat. Keep up the great content.
