i would die for a version of your videos where its just ambience and footage of you walking. I love the commentary and the education of these locations but your camera work and audio work is just transient sometimes and i wish i could sit back to enjoy it specifically. 30:12 i mean cmon, listen to the background and look at that view. When i began focusing on the visuals and audio your voiceover spooked me cause i was just so fixated on it lol oh btw if you do make a no-commentary cut of your videos try to cut out the parts where people get weirded out by a guy pointing a camera at them, breaks the mood and ends up making me laugh lol

This is my home mall. it's literally the closest to me and not even a 5 minute drive away down 695. it's been rough seeing it decline over the 31 years of my life.

Go to Eastland Mall in East point, MI.

Mr Ray's hair weave. God that commercial is part of my life in the 80s. "Ladies, are you going bowald?"

My Polish grandmother used to take me to this mall all the time, when I was growing up. We'd always get an ice cream at Friendly's (which, if memory serves me right, was where the dentist is currently...Irony, much?). I raise a cone of black raspberry with chocolate sprinkles to you, Sal.

From Dundalk, also had a Polish grandmother take me here as a kid. I remember KB Toys, Walden Books, EB Games when it was still Electronics Boutique, Spencer's, the old Aladdin's Castle arcade, and even a pet store at one point. But I also remember actually getting lost with my cousin when our grandmother stepped away for a second, and we had to track down a mall security guard in order to find her. She'd take us and we'd buy plastic cop toys, handcuffs, guns, maybe an NES game if we were lucky. Kind of funny how stories can overlap like that. But then again, I guess this part of Baltimore was pretty historically Polish.

To this day, if I see a Friendly’s which is still open, I stop for a double scoop of black raspberry with chocolate sprinkles!

I lived in Dundalk in the ‘70’s. This and Golden Ring Mall were the go to places to shop. Always crowded back then.

How did I miss an ExLog? It’s like finding a gift under the Christmas tree two weeks after opening all the toys… but just two years later! 😂

This was the spot for people that lived on the east side of Baltimore City/County.

I really like this series. This was the mall I used to go to as a child. I loved the arcade and Electronics Boutique. Forgive my faulty childhood memories, but I think Ames was present in the mall before the remodel and the addition of Sears. Keep up the good work.

Everything almost gone

Dundalk native here---I worked for Hutzler's in 1976-1977 at Eastpoint Mall. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. Every customer received personal service by the employees and it wasn't like today's herding the customers through the checkout like cattle. The entrance to the food court was actually the main entrance to Hutzler's.

@@sal I worked for a contractor that gutted the old Hutzlers for the food court. The old Hutzlers was built like a fortress. We used Bobcats to knock down the walls and they put up a hell of a fight. Surprisingly, the Hutzlers had no windows so it was pitch black inside.

@tcalto2 My grandmother worked at Hutzler's also from the store opening until 1977. She worked in a department called Lady's Separates. She really loved her job and they treated her really well.

I was a small child, living in Dundalk, when Eastpoint was a shopping center, in the late 50s, early 60s. I remember those poor penguins and monkeys. Of course, as a small child I was delighted to see them, every time we went shopping. Now, I am disgusted those poor birds and animals had to live that horrible life. Also, back in that day, Eastpoint had a trampoline park, off the North Point Blvd side. My dad used to take my brother and I to that park and it was such fun! Your video takes me back!!

There is a car show in Dundalk in a couple of weeks we go to every year.

I’m working my way backwards through the ExLog series, and from the way Sal’s talked about it, I can’t wait until ExLog 2! The bar is high, and by high, I mean really really low! 😂

Those hot pants, those bright yellow hot pants... They will haunt my darkest nights. I'd be pretty dismayed seeing monkeys and penguins at the local mall. That's why I go to the zoo or aquarium. There are more interesting specimens to watch while mall walking. Was the Shopko a different entity from the eponymous discount chain? Such a generic name! Kohan, Moonbeam, Namdar and Hull -- the four horsemen of the mallpocalypse -- will never learn. It's nice to see all the local tenants keeping the mall going. Don't know about you, but I'm tired of every place looking the same, with the same stores. There's not much point in patronizing places like that, as far as I'm concerned.

I love the globe fountain ⛲️ at about 5:35. My oldest mall used to have those and I didn’t remember until I say that black and white photo. They were in outside courtyards.

I worked at Jean's West back in the 80s. Made some great friends there that I am still friends with to this day. Sad to see what it has become.

Sal, your work has been great from the beginning! I couldn't do this so I appreciate those who can and give it there best. I will keep watching as long as you have a channel. 😀

Its been almost 30 years since I've last had one, but that Roman Delight pizza was always solid back in the day.

Oh man. I vividly remember walking into this atrium and food court weeks after the renovation in 1991, as a wide-eyed 9-yr-old. We thought it was so cutting edge and modern!

I’m only 23 and the decline of this mall, my hometown mall, has been so sad. For decades, Eastpoint was the only thing to do in Dundalk. Now, the mall is basically a ghost town. Many, many memories of mine stem from this mall. Dundalk gets a bad rep and I hope something can be done to turn both the town and the mall around. Thank you for this. Seeing my childhood, my parents childhoods, my grandparents childhoods, and even my great grandparents childhoods - all over a screen in heavy detail - was very special to me.

(half joking / half serious) Dundalk had a bad rep even before you were born. I remember we had this one neighbor on our street (West Baltimore County) and they put up fake stone ie Dundalk style and my parents were very annoyed. Everyone else had "normal" siding materials. I'm pretty sure they were from East Baltimore County. Though, I think my parents could have forgiven the siding, they weren't that friendly either.

Great video as always dude. Omg some of those weaves at Mr Rays were scary!! Reminds me of ‘I Be-Weave’ by Shocantelle 😆

I was hoping you'd do this one again. Fun fact, my parents always tell me they remember seeing the penguins and monkeys in the mall, just felt like saying that, great video as always Sal

I was a west Baltimore County kid, but I dated a girl from east Baltimore County. I have to imagine that we went to this mall at least once because I have no idea what else we would have done back then.

I remember watching the hair weave commercials growing up on channel 11 WBAL usually on in the mornings

I remember going to rent movies at Erol’s with my grandfather when he lived in Arlington back in the 80’s. Fun times.

I have lived in Baltimore all my life around this area, and this mall has been my whole childhood. I have never seen all of these areas in the upstairs and downstairs before!! I remember there was a Sears, DSW, Shoppers World, and an Applebee's here. Learning that the place where my dentist since birth is used to be was an ice cream place is kind of funny.

My aunt lived in Baltimore, and my father would always take me to Eastpoint. I loved it. I remembered when it was just a small outdoor shopping center. And I remember when they built another part of it facing the original stores. Then they put a roof outside and made it a mall. I am wondering how the Key Bridge collapse will affect business there. It was so nice to see the mall again. I also remember a hardware store, but forgot the name of it. That was before it became a mall.

Oh lord, that closed ice cream place is SO 90s in design. Also, that is a THICC slice of pizza.

Sparrows point has a huge impact on this place. Aside from the harford mall this was one of the first I ever went to as a kid.

I remember going to Eastpoint back in the 60's as a kid. This was before it was enclosed; just a "shopping center". Then, years later, I remember the penguins and Monkeytown. Now the whole area around that dead mall is Monkeytown.

The Crafty Crab looks like my kind of place. Any place with seafood is my kind of place.

This was my childhood mall. I have so many wonderful memories here. The oddest being the time I literally ran into Chris Benoit in the Value City Furniture. We both got lost trying to find the door.

It was so sad to hear about Benoit's passing. It just goes to show that you never know what is going on with someone. Btw I grew up in PG county Maryland and never been to this mall. I do have SO many memories of the mall in Greenbelt though and Iverson mall and Landover mall which has since closed.

That Baltimore accent is so damn crazy I have a friend in Carlisle Pennsylvania that sounds exactly like it and I make fun of him every time I see him 😸🥂

Another enjoyable video Sal. Been with you since the beginning, enjoying the journey. Thanks for all you do and keep up the great work.

And now you got me wanting to go back and watch Ex Log 2 again. Not to criticize, just to refresh my memory. Another fine production Sal!

My mom used to talk about the penguins and monkeys. I grew up in Eastwood - we were in the city, but the county line cut through our rowhome block. I remember EP used to have this odd Christmas train display that was enclosed, but you could press buttons to make different trains run. While we lived close to EP, my parents preferred taking us to White Marsh, and we moved to Perry Hall in 1991. My dad helped in construction on White Marsh Mall. It's great to see EPM still open, even if it is dying.

Interesting. We lived close to Social Security Mall. Even when Owings Mills opened, my parents would never spend the time to drive the extra distance there.

In the UK here but LOVE Sal's vids. Always makes my day when a new one pops up.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Making mistakes and looking back on your failures allows you to grow into the channel you want to be.

I don't even recognize this mall. I remember in the seventies going to Eastpoint Mall and visiting the Magic Box. They had all sorts of magic tricks and props. The selection of stores today is horrendous. I can't imagine it being worth the trip. Great video and narration.

I've only been in Easrpoint once, somewhere around 2006. I stopped for lunch in the food court and my car got sideswiped in the parking lot while I was inside.

This is so sad ...i actually thought East Point had a great chance at surviving as it was located in a very blue collar area, was very popular and renovated fairly recently . i remember going there often meeting up with my grandfather with my parents and eating dinner at the York Steak House .

I used to go there when I lived in Canton, which was not far proximity. Even 15 years ago it was looking pretty dead, but the aesthetics kept bringing me back. Rad is correct! I don't think you should be too hard on yourself about the old vid. Sure, it might not be as great as others, but I think for most vloggers, unless they were already professional videographers or editors, there is a natural evolution in the body of work. And also, you have fans that appreciate all your content and will watch everything regardless.

My early childhood was spent growing up in East Baltimore/Dundalk. I haven't been back but a few times since adulthood, and when you showed Eastern Avenue I got this dreadful sinking feeling... That being said, goodness Sal you're looking handsome as ever!

O yes that pizza.. One of my all time favorite places to eat at the mall was Sbarro. Loved the stuffed pizza an meat balls...Good old Forest fair mall...

Dude the commentary at the end is hilarious especially the knockerball part...but you're really beating the shit out of yourself for episode 2. It was an early video for you, you were in a hurry from it closing that night, and you learned from it...it's part of the story man. It's all good.

You should check out the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, it seems to be doing okay. One of the anchor stores is now a big fitness center and another has become a big modern arcade. I can remember back in the early 2000's when it still had an old school 80s-90s arcade and I still remember the smell of the pretzel stand near the center of the mall, and the car shows they'd have in the parking lot in the summer

I use to work at the once King's Court restaurant that was ten steps from Value City on the main floor..

If you avoid Baltimore you won't notice the mall.

Get your pizza at nearby Pizza Johns. I have been going to this mall since it was an open store mall. In my opinion the mall went from middle class to lower class. Such a shame since it is a beautiful mall.

Gotta love Baltimore. I live in Towson. The Towson mall is always packed. I'm sure all of the colleges in the area help keep it going! I remember seeing the Mr Ray's Hair Weave commercials real time back in tbe day. Channel 54 during Kungfu Theater and Nightmare Theater on Saturday afternoons.

When I visited this mall in the 2010s, it reminded me so much of Beltway Plaza.

The US has 3 food groups: pizza, hamburgers and chicken nuggies.

Not sure if you have been here yet, but another mall you could visit is the St. Charles Mall in Waldorf MD. It's about an hour away from Baltimore. My mother still lives down there and she heard that mall is dying, and eventually it will be turned into either a ups or amazon warehouse hub. The mall was originally built on swampland, so the mall has been slowly sinking over the passed 20 years. A lot of the shops are gone now. It used to be blue and beautiful with a water fountain and a Disney Store. Originally built in the 80's and it opened in 1990.

What an incredible documentation of this mall. I grew up in Eastwood and would frequent this mall several times a week. I wonder if anyone remembers that once a year on the north side of the mall (when it was still an open air shopping center) there would be a dinosaur exhibit with life sized dinosaur models. This would encompass the area where the Chik-Fil-a now resides along with the whole north lot. And on the south lot there was an attraction called Safe-T-Town in which kids could learn basic civic safety like how to honor crossing guards, how to safely cross streets and things of that nature. My memory is struggling a little but I remember little cars also but I dont remember their function exactly. Thank you so much for bringing this mall into the light it was a big part of many of our lives. Sorry I talked so much I just got really excited seeing Eastpoint.

Civic safety?! Children were taught how to be good citizens?!

This is one of two malls that my parents took us to when i was a child. Wow how it has changed. I think my oldest grandchild was 1 the last time I was there she just turned 16 Thanksgiving.

You should do an episode on the country club mall in lavale (cumb) md. It’s a dying mall. The only anchor is Walmart and it has a hallway that’s always blocked off so they kinda don’t associate with the mall. The mall is almost completely empty

the roof you see at 6:33 the building was empty for close to 35 years it had a few tenants but was mainly vacant, it started as a bank but can remember which one

woodland Mall, Grand Rapids MI. still there and doing ok. had a wonderful feel,yes dated to the 70s. but cool fountain. neat sitting area. it was all ripped out 20 years ago and a generic off the shelf, cheap white tile went in.

Car show in a couple of weeks near Dundalk . Mob Town Grease Ball , very cool show . I think it’s being held at the Key Brewery.

Go to Mr. RAY TODAY and put your hair on Layaway 😅🤣😂 remember that commercial like it was YESTERDAY. Didn't know that about Edmonson village shopping center though that's half way dead 😳 And thanks for looking up Hochschild Kohn's pronunciation 👍🏾
