Beno in the WHSmith in Oxford there is an evens lift from 1982 and it has never got modernised not even once and my 2 favarite bits about it are the doors they look so old fashioned and 2 it says lift coming and the heritage buttons wow I’m so happy it is not modernised you should really do a review on it

I find it ironic that The Escalator Company, services that lift 4:22

1:25 Ah now in my apartment building, our lifts used to have keighley buttons. But they modernized it into stupid dewhurst!

Allders got renamed Croydon Village Shopping & they're so poor they can't afford to keep their escalators running & just use them as normal stairways. It's deserted & it's spooky.

bhs lift was fixed when it wasn't broken. kiefly is scenic. wh smith lift is ok. clocks stannah lift is good. empty shop should get a new tenant soon.

You won't like this, but the Evans lifts in BHS Bexleyheath have now been heavily modernised/replaced with EcoDiscs. I'm not sure as they weren't working when I went. That Stannah lift sounds like they've tried to copy the KONE voice.

Mty101 they are actually just kones because they kept the original motor and only one of the lifts got moded the other one is abandoned

That Allders store looks insane better than bhs

Express in 5:39 doesn't have ticky tape luckily. And it's just leveling addon, not a completely rubbishy VF.

+kriskolo2013 It is VF modded. The way it runs feels very much like Lester controls. Very Lestery when it stops. Crappy slow deceleration thanks to the VF being programed by some boring person. When it stops it stops using VF, only then does the brake apply, then there is a pause, then the door clunks as it is unlocked, and only then does the door actually open. I HATE LESER CONTROLS.

+Beno So it's now VF modded, but still moves at the same speed as it did before, and because it now levels, it takes longer than before. What's the point? Considering how Schindler was installing lifts with the "smart" smooth point leveling systems, it seems insane that 30 years later such a thing isn't standard. I've even seen lifts that have had this but were modernised with standard VF controllers - WTF?

+Mattyeah101 They are not allowed to speed up the motor using VF as the original motors are designed for 50hz, any more will be outside its specification. I really hate VF which is effectively just 2 speed. It doesn't add anything and is slower than an old 2 speed lift.

That's sort of what I was getting at - unless the motor is replaced, it seems pointless (apart from making the ride smoother). This one does appear to still have quite a jerky stop though despite being VF modded.

Very disappointing to see Old Otis lifts modernized with crap DMG fixtures. The Schindler lift in WHSmith probably used to be S-Series or D-Series.

Lift scorage: Lift 1 - F*ck you 21st century lifts!! Bit at least the buttons are DMG not Dewhurst and the chime is very nice. 1,5/10 Lift 2 - no crap, but dewhurst buttons sadly. 9,5/10 Lift 3 - complete shit. 0/10 Lift 4 - Nice 80s Stannah, but I hate the voice and spooky basement is locked aww well 8/10 Lift 5 - At least no ticky tape and we can see what's on the top floor. 2/10 Total 21/50 The lifts showed in this lift tour are total crap, apart from Stannah and Keighley style Schindler, but I hope for better.

BUGGER! They modernized the old Otis lift.

To me Dewhurst and DMG are as bad as each other.

0:52 I hate 21st Century lifts there the worst lifts I’ve ever come across
